On Saturday morning, the global Netflix Tudum India 2022 dropped a bunch of new titles on the over-the-top (OTT) platform, so our day is already made.
This has given binge-worthy content from all over the world a place to be seen. Skilled Indian creators have also stepped up their game. The “Global Fan Event” is where you can find first-look photos, brand-new footage and teasers, interviews, and more for this season.
Comedian Zakir Khan and well-known actor Prajakta Koli were in charge of Tudum India. The two started the show with a lively musical introduction (in just under 40 seconds, no less). From there, Tudum ’22 went on a wild ride, going from gritty noir in wealthy Bombay to a dark comedy set in a small town to a whodunit about stolen jackfruit. Are you ready?
Monica, O My Darling opened with an epic musical number with Huma Qureshi and Rajkummar Rao. Star Radhika Apte, who didn’t quite see herself in her work, introduced the number. The movie is a neo-noir about the perfect plan that leads to chaos, including lust, blackmail, betrayal, blood, a whodunit, and robots crushing human skulls. This crime drama is directed by Vasan Bala and made by Matchbox Shots. Sikandar Kher, Sukant Goel, Zayn Marie Khan, Bhagawati Perumal, and Akansha Ranjan Kapoor are also in it.

Rana Naidu
Next was Rana Naidu, which was introduced by Rana Daggubati and Venkatesh Daggubati, who play a father and son in the show. They talked about how popular Rana Naidu is and what fans can expect from it (“a lot of action, a lot of thrills”), and they set up the teaser. Rana Naidu takes place in Mumbai and is about a guy named Naidu who fixes problems for the most powerful people in the city. But the drama starts when his father gets out of jail without warning, which starts a chain of events that could change everything. This exciting series stars Rana Daggubati, Venkatesh Daggubati, Surveen Chawla, Sushant Singh, Abhishek Banerjee, Suchitra Pillai, Gaurav Chopra, and Ashish Vidyarthi. It was made by Locomotive Global Inc. and Sunder Aaron, and Karan Anshuman and Suparn S. Varma directed it.
Vishal Bhardwaj, one of India’s best-known filmmakers, introduced a look behind the scenes of Khufiya. This came after Rana Naidu. Bhardwaj said that Khufiya is based on the book Escape to Nowhere, which was written by an ex-spy and was based on real events. This spy drama features strong actors like Tabu, Ali Fazal, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Ashish Vidyarthi.
After showing glimpses of Rana Naidu and Khufiya, Tudum India took the audience to an elite classroom, where the host Prajakta Koli introduced the series teaser for Class. The show is about what happens when three new students from very different backgrounds start a new term at the posh Hampton International school and shake things up. Class stars Gurfateh Pirzada, Anjali Sivaraman, Ayesha Kanga, Cyaawal Singh, Chintan Rach, Chayan Chopra, Madhyama Segal, Moses Koul, Naina Bhan, Piyush Khati, and Zeyn Shaw. It was produced by Sukesh Motwani, Mautik Tolia, and Persis Siganporia, and it was directed by Ashim Ahluw Class is a high school drama that moves the bar up a few notches.
Next, Koli was taken to the newsroom to talk about Scoop, a show based on the real-life story of what happened after a reporter was shot dead in broad daylight. People got a look at the series that will be based on Jigna Vora’s book Behind the Bars in Byculla: My Days in Prison in the sneak peek. Scoop tells the story of Jagruti Pathak, an ambitious crime reporter whose life falls apart when she is accused of killing a fellow reporter and the truth is covered up while she waits for her trial. Scoop is directed by Hansal Mehta and produced by Matchbox Shots, Sanjay Routray, and Sarita Patil. Key roles are played by Karishma Tanna, Mohammad Zeeshan Ayyub, Harman Baweja, Deven Bhojani, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Tejasvini Kolhapure, Shikha Talsania, Tanmay Dhanania, and Inayat Sood.
Of course, not all true crime involves murder. The next part of Tudum India was a funny first look at Kathal, which means “jackfruit” in English. It is loosely based on a true story. When a local politician’s prized jackfruits go missing, it turns into a strange case that falls into the hands of Sanya Malhotra, who plays a young, honest police officer. Kathal is Yashowardhan Mishra’s first movie as a director. It is made by Sikhya Entertainment and Balaji Telefilms.
Manoj Bajpayee ate soup while introducing the show (who also happens to be one of the stars). Soup is a movie directed by Abhishek Chaubey. It is about a chef named Swathi Shetty who comes up with a plan to get rid of her husband and marry her lover. But when a blundering local inspector and a group of bad guys mess with her plans, she might not even know it. Abhishek Chaubey is in charge of directing Soup, and Honey Trehan and Chetana Kowshik are in charge of making it. Manoj Bajpayee, Konkona Sensharma, Nasser, Sayaji Shinde, and Lal star in this one-of-a-kind thriller.
The next sneak peek of Tudum India was all about a CAT. Well, in this case, a CAT is a person—Randeep Hooda plays a former civilian informant who was a CAT. The teaser gives people a taste of the story’s rough side. Gurnam has to become an informant again to save his brother’s life. This forces him to face his dark past. CAT was made by Balwinder Singh Janjua, Rupinder Chahal, and Jimmy Singh. Balwinder Singh Janjua and Panchali Chakraverty were in charge of producing the film.
The Qala teaser’s debut on Tudum India was, to say the least, interesting. It was haunting, powerful, and full of great music. Qala is the story of a young playback singer in the 1930s and late 1940s. It’s about how her tragic past catches up with her and makes her fall apart at the height of her hard-won success. Qala is a movie that stars Triptii Dimri, Swastika Mukherjee, Babil Khan, and Amit Sial. It was directed by Anvitaa Dutt and produced by Karnesh Sharma.
Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga, starring Yami Gautam, Sunny Kaushal, and Sharad Kelkar and directed by Ajay Singh and produced by Maddock Films, is not a joke. Don’t be fooled by host Koli’s joke about being a flight attendant. It’s about a flight attendant and her business partner who are on a mission to steal diamonds and get away from a loan shark. It’s a very exciting story. But at 40,000 feet, the robbery goes horribly wrong and becomes a hostage situation. As fans saw in the sneak peek for Tudum India, chaos breaks out.
After all the unexpected laughs, tense drama, and over-the-top musical numbers, this special about one of India’s most private but wildly popular Superstars was a welcome addition to the Tulum India lineup. The special tells the story of how Nayanthara and filmmaker Vignesh Shivan met and fell in love. Nayanthara just got married to Vignesh Shivan in a fairy tale wedding. Nayanthara’s Beyond the Fairy Tale gave viewers of Tudum India an inside look at their lives, marriage, and other things. The Rowdy Pictures is making a special, and one of the best directors in the world, Gautam Vasudevan, is in charge of it.
Guns & Gulaabs, which was made by D2R films and directed by Raj & DK, was shown for the first time at the end of the show. It’s a dark comedy that mixes genres that takes place in a small town in India in the 1990s. Actor Dulquer Salmaan said that Guns & Gulaabs will give people love, crime, and a lot of nostalgia for the mid-1990s. The teaser keeps its promise. People know that Venkatesh and Rana will work together in a web series called Rana Naidu to make people laugh. The web series is based on the well-known American show “Ray Donovan.” The people who made it shared a teaser for it today and said, “It’s time for the ultimate Daggubati vs. Daggubati! But this isn’t a typical family drama.
It put Venkatesh and Rana on opposite sides. In the tense teaser, sparks flew between the two of them. Rana looked tough and angry, and he did exciting action scenes. Venkatesh’s different look is a surprise. The movie was made better by the background music and the way it was shot.
