Political career

During the Lok Sabha election in 2014, Srivastava was the candidate that the Samajwadi Party (SP) put forward to represent the Kanpur constituency. On the other hand, Srivastav renounced his candidacy on March 11th, 2014, stating that he was not receiving sufficient support from the local units of the party. SP was anticipating that he would resign because the competition for the seat had become significant. After he quit, SP dropped his bid to become the candidate for Kanpur.

On March 19, 2014, he became a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), having previously been a member of the Socialist Party.
