  • If marriage rites were performed at a religious place, a certificate from the priest is required who solemnized the marriage.
  • If any of the parties is divorced or widow/widower, then an attested copy of divorce decree/order or death certificate must be produced respectively.

Fee to apply for marriage Certificate in Delhi

  • Parties need to pay Rs. 100/- for registration under the Hindu Marriage Act and Rs.150/- under the Special Marriage Act.
  • The fee must be deposited to t the cashier of District and after that, the receipt should be attached with the application form.

Procedure after form submission 

  • Once the application is submitted, a copy of the notice is pasted on the Notice board of the SDM Office.
  • If any person has an objection to the marriage, they can object to it within 30 days from the issuance of notice.
  • If there is any objection, SDM will not solemnize the marriage.
  • In case the SDM refuses to solemnize the marriage, the couple may file an appeal to the district court within 30 days.
  • If no objection is filed, the SDM will solemnize the marriage after a 30-day period.
  • The couple must be present along with 3 witnesses from each side in the SDM office on the date of marriage solemnization.
  • The witnesses then need to sign and produce their passport-sized photographs on the date of solemnization of marriage.

  • Make an appointment with the DM.
  • Select your District and continue to fill the application form.

  • After fulfilling all the formalities, take a printout of your application and wait for a response from the authorities.
