How Did Dr. Mario Gonzalez Murder Die?
Dr. Jorge Mario González Zamora, MD was born on February 17, 1953 in Guatemala City, Guatemala. He was awarded his doctorate in 1977. Both the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and the Baylor College of Medicine gave him their proper appointments in their respective departments. On November 15, 2008, he wed Charleen Chuke at the family ranch in Bellville, Texas, and the ceremony took place there. They welcomed a son into the world and called him Mario Raphael Gonzalez. He was their first kid. Jorge was a diligent worker but also had a great sense of humour. He enjoyed his tractor and other ranching equipment, going for walks with his son, and coming home to his wife’s homemade chicken soup. When things started to get worse, the couple welcomed their second child into the world.
A call to 911 was placed by Charleen on the 22nd of August, 2009, at approximately 12:15 p.m., and it was received by the Bellville Police Department. Over the phone, Charleen could be heard sobbing and exclaiming, “Some guys are in our house!” They’re being fired upon by my spouse! The background was filled with the sound of gunshots, and a police officer was immediately summoned to the location of the incident. When five law enforcement officers arrived at the remote property at approximately 12:30 in the afternoon, they discovered a young Hispanic man, Noel Galvan-Cerna, seated on the porch. They later determined that he was the couple’s ranch hand. He had been wounded in the arm, and the bullet had entered his chest before exiting his body.
The tiny child belonging to the couple was also outdoors and was wailing. In addition, the cops discovered the lifeless body of Jorge lying on the ground, and Charleen sobbing inside of a locked toilet. After successfully reconnecting the mother and her child, they turned their attention to Jorge. The police officers had a theory that the courageous doctor had been involved in a battle with the perpetrators, and that he had retreated inside his home at some point during the conflict, only to be shot in the back with a.9 mm pistol. After that, the assailants continued their assault by firing a few more shots into his back.

Who Killed Dr. Mario Gonzalez Murder?
After receiving Charleen’s 911 call, Officer Chris Rosales was making his way to the location of the incident as he responded to the scene. When he was in the neighbourhood of the doctor’s ranch, he noticed a white Ford F150 pickup truck racing toward the location of the incident. Chris determined based on its behaviour that it was participating in the shooting, and he attempted to stop it from continuing. However, the truck was being pursued by a red Honda, and after the passenger of the truck shot at the pursuer with a chrome gun, both vehicles were able to successfully flee the scene.
Charleen related how she had seen attackers wearing black ski masks when she was unpacking their truck after they had driven from their home in Houston to the property. Charleen and her family had travelled to the ranch from Houston. She shouted and ran inside the house, and Jorge chose to take on the attackers with his.357 handgun while Charleen locked herself in the bathroom. Charleen was able to escape the attackers by locking herself in the bathroom. She also stated that the injured Noel was the son of their nanny, Esperanza, and that the doctor had offered the young man a position at his ranch. She said that the young man had accepted the offer.
After processing the crime scene, the investigators found discarded ski masks, a roll of duct tape, a hoodie, and gloves at the property line of the Gonzalez residence. There was no trace of DNA on any of them, and the detectives appeared to have reached a point where they could go no farther. However, due to the keen observation of a Texas Ranger, it did not endure for very long. A little over an hour later, while he was making his way to the scene of the incident, he came across a white pickup truck. After hearing the description of the automobiles that had fired shots at his colleague, he made the decision to jot down the licence plate before proceeding to the scene of the crime.
The investigators discovered that the number for the licence plate was registered in the name of Sergio Bustillo, who was Esperanza’s boyfriend at the time. He shared his home with Esperanza, Noel, his two sisters, his younger brother Moises, and his older brother Cristóbal. All of them lived together in the same house. During their questioning of Sergio, the police discovered that Moises and Cristóbal had used his truck the morning of the murder. This information was obtained through Sergio. The police were able to locate them with the assistance of the cell phone records, and both individuals were taken into custody on August 27, 2009.
The brothers admitted that they had discussed taking Jorge’s family as hostages in order to extort money from Jorge, but they denied that Noel was involved in the scheme. Both Esperanza and Sergio were in favour of this idea. Nevertheless, because Cristóbal made a mistake when being questioned by the police, the authorities discovered that their cousin Misael Santollo was also implicated in the crime. In addition, he was the owner of a red Honda. On September 1, 2009, Misael was taken into custody after being located through the use of his phone records.
Misael is the one who admitted that Noel was the one who initially conceived up the scheme. Incriminating surveillance footage from a local McDonald’s was another piece of evidence discovered by the police that demonstrated that Noel had been with his siblings and cousin just prior to the gunfight. Each of the four males who were apprehended was charged with first-degree murder. The prosecution was unable to pursue a death sentence because it needed the police to unequivocally identify the person responsible for the crime, and the authorities lacked sufficient evidence to make that determination. Both Moises and Misael entered into plea bargains, and as a result, they received sentences of 50 and 38 years in jail, respectively. According to the statistics maintained by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Moises will be eligible for parole in the year 2034. Misael is currently serving his time in Memorial Unit (DA), which is located in Brazoria County, Texas. He is scheduled to become eligible for release in the year 2028.
However, Noel and Cristóbal were both charged with first-degree murder since the authorities believed that they bore the greatest amount of responsibility for the crime. Noel was the suspected mastermind behind the crime, while Cristóbal was the alleged shooter. In February of 2012, Cristóbal went to trial and was found guilty; he was then sentenced to a life sentence without the possibility of release. In accordance with the terms of his sentence, he has been committed to a Texas correctional facility.
In November 2012, Noel appeared in court because he had rejected a plea bargain. In addition, he was found guilty of first-degree murder and received a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole for his crime. According to the official documents filed with the court, he is currently serving his sentence in a cell at the John B. Connally Unit in Karnes County, Texas.

Charleen provided the authorities with information regarding Noel’s employment history with the family as well. She went on to explain that he was their family’s nanny, Esperanza’s son, and that he drove her to work each day. In 2008, Jorge extended the young man an employment opportunity at the ranch. She added, “When I first met Esperanza, she seemed to be extremely lovely and sweet, and she was a little bashful. She was doing a wonderful job, and Baby Mario seemed to really like her. Charleen stated the following regarding Noel when asked about him: “Noel was a fairly amazing kid and we regarded him as family.”
Charleen was present throughout the entirety of the trial, during which two of the defendants were found guilty and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. In February of 2010, she gave birth to her second child, a son named Giovanni. She is now known by her new married name, Charleen Gonzalez Burleson, after she recently went through another marriage. Charleen has, for reasons that are quite understandable, decided to keep her personal life hidden from the public view, and this includes her whereabouts.
