But what was truly heroic was the way in which his wife, Charleen Gonzalez, battled for her life and phoned the police by hiding in the toilet and shutting herself in from the inside. A round of applause is in order for the mother’s level of mental alertness when she was pregnant. Who exactly is Charleen Gonzalez, and where can we find her at this time? Let’s find out.

Who is Charleen Gonzalez?

On November 15, 2008, Charleen Chuke Gonzalez and Dr. Jorge Mario Gonzalez Zamora exchanged vows at the family property in Bellville, Texas. The ceremony took place there. She had already given birth to their first kid, a son named Mario Raphael Gonzalez, when she discovered that she was pregnant with their second child. The due date was set for February 17, 2010, which was also the 57th birthday of the attending physician. However, a sad theft that was plotted by their ranch help, Noel Galvan-Cerna, would result in the doctor being murdered, and he would never see his second kid again in his entire life.

On August 22, 2009, a dispatcher in Austin County received a call from Charleen who dialled 911. While she was crying on the phone, the dispatcher could hear gunshots going off in the background. She was able to utter the words, “There are some guys in our house! They’re being fired upon by my spouse! In addition to this, she stated, “My husband… oh Lord! My son, who is only a year and a half old, is playing outside. Oh my god, I believe that I just heard my hubby. After receiving the call, the police arrived at the scene of the crime within a few minutes and discovered that Jorge had been fatally shot, that Noel had been hurt by being shot in the arm, and that Raphael was crying. While the other two were standing on the porch, the doctor was lying lifeless on the ground.

As soon as they entered the house, the officers heard Charleen screaming from within the bathroom. After the terrified mother and her sobbing child were brought back together, the police broke the news to her that her husband had been killed. She reflected on the situation and said, “The cop who was walking with me, he told me that Mario did not make it.” And at that point, my knees just gave out, and he lifted me up. After leaving their home in Houston, Charleen proceeded to describe to the officers how she and her husband had travelled to their ranch at approximately 11:45 in the morning.

Charleen was busy unpacking the trunk as Noel and Raphael played outdoors and Jorge went inside the house. She described how she saw the attackers, stating, “I turned to the right and I see this man, he’s dressed in all black with a mask, and he started coming towards me.” She went on to describe how she fought off the attackers. I yelled, and my body basically took me to the house when I got there.” While her husband continued to fight off the attackers with his pistol, she barricaded herself in the toilet with her phone and hid there until her husband returned. She recalled that much later, saying, “After some gunfire, everything went quiet.” And all of a sudden, there were two men in masks peering inside the room at me.

“That’s when I understood I was probably going to die that day,” Charleen continued. The door to the restroom was being attempted to be opened at precisely the same moment as the previous event. And I was exerting every ounce of my energy to prevent him from entering the restroom. She was not successful in keeping it closed. She continued by saying, “He did open that door, and he shoved a gun in my face, and… I believe that he is out of ammunition at the moment. And he just left. I looked out the window at the same time and watched the guys that were there suddenly rush away.”

Where can I find Charleen Gonzalez at this hour?

Charleen provided the authorities with information regarding Noel’s employment history with the family as well. She went on to explain that he was their family’s nanny, Esperanza’s son, and that he drove her to work each day. In 2008, Jorge extended the young man an employment opportunity at the ranch. She added, “When I first met Esperanza, she seemed to be extremely lovely and sweet, and she was a little bashful. She was doing a wonderful job, and Baby Mario seemed to really like her. Charleen stated the following regarding Noel when asked about him: “Noel was a fairly amazing kid and we regarded him as family.”

Charleen was present throughout the entirety of the trial, during which two of the defendants were found guilty and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. In February of 2010, she gave birth to her second child, a son named Giovanni. She is now known by her new married name, Charleen Gonzalez Burleson, after she recently went through another marriage. Charleen has, for reasons that are quite understandable, decided to keep her personal life hidden from the public view, and this includes her whereabouts. On the other hand, it is highly likely that she still remains in Texas.
