Yes, without a doubt. There’s a little amount of “I do want them to be proud of what I accomplished, and I hope that they don’t dislike it,” especially when you’re portraying a character from a book series that so many people around the world adore. But I’m only capable of so much. It comes down to whether or not a person is a people pleaser. If I’m thinking about it while performing a scene, I’m probably not acting to my full potential since I’m not there. I’m not there right now.
If something happens in the moment and Sonya Karp reacts, whether it’s in character or not but true to what’s occurring in front of me, who’s to say that wasn’t something Sonya would do? Excellent query. I adored the Aaliyah-starring film “Queen of the Damned.” That movie completely consumed my mother. Aaliyah is stunning and alluring, yet it’s quite dark. That is a feature I adore. Like the underworld, really. In that there is a king and a queen, which is awesome to add into a vampire world because they are typically so old, it is similar to “Vampire Academy.” That is, I believe, my favorite vampire tale.
