Sun went to Santa Fe Christian in Solana Beach, California, which is a private school. In her first year, she had 390 kills and 164 digs, which gave her a hitting percentage of.312. In 2014, she was named to the MaxPreps underclass All-American team and the California Volleyball All-State team.
In her second year, she had 240 kills, 235 digs, and a.298 hitting percentage. She was named the player of the match three times this year, making her one of the best high school players in the country.
She was named to the 2015 MaxPreps Preseason All-American Team. She was a junior at the time. But because she had a busy summer playing for the U.S. Under-18 National Team, she decided to skip her junior season to give herself time to rest and get better. Junior Volleyball Teams in the USA
Sun played beach volleyball for the USA Under-17 team that won gold at the FIVB World Championships in Mexico. She helped the Longhorns get a 27-3 record overall and a 16-0 record in Big 12 play. Lincoln University of Nebraska (2018-present)
After moving to Lincoln in the summer of 2018, Sun was hurt in his upper body and had to miss preseason practices and the first seven games of the 2018 season. She played her first game as a Husker against New Mexico University. She had 13 kills and 5 digs. She had 327 kills at the end of the year, which was second on the team. That’s an average of 3.11 kills per set. She also had 282 digs, 30 aces when she served, and 56 blocks. The team finished the year with a record of 29-7 and made it to the NCAA Final Four for the fourth year in a row. However, they lost to Stanford in the NCAA National Championship game.
