Any good New Englander knows that stripes are always the answer. So, after Lucinda Loya couldn’t sleep because she was trying to come up with a bold idea for the dining room of her Boston clients, she had a revelation: stripes.
The Sherwin-Williams Copper Mountain stripe down the middle of the ceiling, wall, and window frame in Emilia Fazzalari Grousbeck and Wyc Grousbeck’s dining room is the first thing you notice when you step out of the elevator into their fourth-floor apartment in Maison Vernon, a seven-unit building on Beacon Hill. Even though Fazzalari Grousbeck is one of her best friends, it wasn’t easy for the interior designer from Houston, Texas, to convince him.
“Everything in the space started with that stripe,” Loya says. “But Emilia called the day before we were supposed to start painting and said she had changed her mind and didn’t think we should do it. I had to convince her again.”
The dining room is now Fazzalari Grousbeck’s favorite room in the apartment.
