Season 2’s episode 8 of Vikings: Valhalla begins anew on the Pomeranian Coast. Jorundr is fed by Olaf, who tries to get information from him
Olaf is shrewd and notes that his primary goal is to assassinate Harekr, the leader of Jomsborg, in order to facilitate trade.
He proposes a “divine intervention” so that Jorundr might take the initiative and take the lead. He is undoubtedly interested in this.
Naturally, Olaf appears on the Jomsborg coast and approaches Freydis, telling her that he is there for her son since he is a Christian.
The situation is stressful, but Jorundr’s mother makes a scene and informs Jorundr that he is not her son… but she also receives a message: “the harbour.”
The Pontic Olbia, a former sacred site for the Ancient Greeks and the ideal rest stop before continuing on to Constantinople, is where our cast of characters hide out in the interim.
Mariam’s situation is regrettably not good. She tells Leif that she loves him before dying.
However, just before she leaves, Mariam gives Leif a key and instructs him to use it to locate the Lion Gate in Constantinople.
Her tiny cottage lies next to the Tower of Belisarius on the opposite side of it. And he currently owns it. “Make wise use of what you learn there.”

Vikings: Valhalla: Season 2 Episode 8 Recap
Gytha and Godwin get married in London. Emma professes to have put her doubts behind her after King Canute advises her to do so.
She does, however, give Gytha a gift in the form of a necklace that has that ring attached to the end of it. When Godwin discovers, he is not pleased, but he sadly swallows his pride when he realises that she will never be able to take it off, serving as a reminder of his betrayal.
Vikings: Valhalla: Season 2 Episode 8: Has Olaf lost?
The main fight appears to be about to start back in Jomsborg. Olaf’s troops are scattered in the open near the siege weapons, and Jorundr is in charge of them. He then attacks them.
Although Jorundr suffers injuries as a result of his deeds, his squad does get the jump on Olaf, indicating that the sentinel has been captured. But it’s all a trick. While Freydis waits on the dock’s edge, the area is utterly deserted.
All of the soldiers refuse to set foot on land, which is a very foolish choice given that Freydis had contaminated the sea with oil jars, turning it dark.
Freydis ignites a plank of wood and throws it into the lake, killing everyone but Olaf and Svein while Olaf and Svein watch.
Olaf and Freydis fight, and Freydis prevails, stabbing Olaf in the chest as Svein looks on. Olaf informs her that she has slain a martyr as he bleeds out, but as Svein is the lone survivor and all of Olaf’s warriors are dead, Freydis helps him up and addresses him as the King of Norway.
Vikings: Valhalla: Season 2 Episode 8: Ending
Svein is brought back to Aelfgif by Freydis, who requests peace. On the way out, Freydis embraces the concept of being The Keeper of the Faith after she nods in agreement.
The Emperor Romanos, who has come all the way from Constantinople to see them, welcomes Harald and the others.
As it turns out, what they were actually presenting was Elena, who would become the next Empress, not the medallion as Harald had initially assumed. The Emperor presents Harald with a ring and promises that he will be of great value in the future.
Vikings: Valhalla Season 2: Episodes
As a result, Vikings: Valhalla ends with a disappointing ending that puts the entire season in perspective. and it’s not all that good.
The entire time on this journey to Constantinople, Harald and Leif are ignored, and by the end, Harald appears to have forgotten why he was ever there.
He also becomes involved with this Elena figure, which seems a little strange given that Freydis is still away in Jomsborg. Shouldn’t he be more excited about calling her again?
In contrast, the conflict at Jomsborg turns out to be a trap set by Freydis, with not a single man choosing to intervene to prevent Freydis from igniting the board of wood and tossing it into the river.
Not even Olaf’s yell of “wait!” What do you have to say? it may have at least in part helped me to forget about it. Instead, this comes across as terribly forced.
Oh, and every single soldier is instantaneously killed. Nobody attempted to climb onto the deck or enter the water, did they? I suppose not.
And that’s not even bringing up the London subplot, which ultimately accomplishes nothing other than letting us know that Godwin is a traitor and making fun of him with the ring.
In the end, this second season feels like a placeholder for an extremely dramatic third season. Given that most of these tales have dragged on, this follow-up hasn’t really done anything to arouse excitement.
Unfortunately, this season’s performance has declined from that of last year, which is a tragedy.
Vikings: Valhalla Season 2 Episode 8: Release Date
On January 12, 2023, Vikings Valhalla season 2 premiered on Netflix. All eight episodes are now accessible to stream everywhere in the world.
The show’s creator has revealed that a third season is already in the works and might premiere in early 2024, so that’s not the only good news.

Vikings: Valhalla Season 2 Episode 8: Plot
- After the catastrophic fall of Kattegat, which left Leif, Freyd, and Harald as fugitives in Scandinavia, the story picks up in the second season.

Vikings: Valhalla Season 2 Episode 8: Cast
The Netflix official synopsis reads as follows: “Vikings Valhalla, which takes place in the early 11th century and is set over a thousand years in the past, tells the heroic tales of some of the most illustrious Vikings in history, including the legendary explorer Leif Eriksson, his fiery and independent sister Freydis Eriksdotter, and the aspirational Nordic prince Harald Sigurdsson.
“In the second season, our protagonists are still reeling from the devastating collapse of Kattegat, an event that has crushed their hopes and changed the course of their lives.
They are forced to put their aims and courage to the test in worlds outside the Kattegat fjords after finding themselves unexpectedly on the run in Scandinavia.”
Sam Corlett (Leif), Frida Gustavsson (Freyds Eirksdóttir), Leo Suter (Harald Sigurdsson), and the rest of the actors from Vikings Valhalla season 2 will all be back for more plundering.
Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, who plays the ambitious Olaf, is also set to return.
Bradley Freegard (King Canute) and Soren Pilmark (King Sweyn Forkbeard) are also likely to be sailing back in the middle of the action.
However, season 2 introduces a tonne of fresh characters that you should get to know.
Harekr (Bradley James)
“Jómsborg, a sort of legendary Viking settlement where the ultra-pagan Vikings dwelt, is ruled by Harekr. Despite being a skilled warrior, he has a target on his back for any of our pagan hunters, including Olaf “Jeb Stuart spoke to Tudum (opens in new tab).
“Harekr lives by very particular regulations since the Jomsvikings were so strict and rigid. The Jomsvikings operated in a similar manner; they were fiercely devoted to their leader.
They would fight to the death even if they occasionally disagreed with their leader.
Mariam (Hayat Kamille)
One of my favourite characters is Mariam.
Her name pays homage to the famous astronomer, navigator, and mathematician Mariam al-Astrulabi from the House of Wisdom in Baghdad “elucidates Stuart “Astronomer Mariam, our Mariam, is stranded in Novgorod.
In our retelling of the tale, she travelled north from Constantinople to study the stars, notably the meteorites and such such things. She is multilingual and is proficient in Latin, Greek, Arabic, and Russian.
Olaf and Harald share an uncle in Kyivan Rus’s warlike king Yaroslav the Wise “Stuart argues. “He is portrayed by Polish actor Marcin Dorociski, who also played a Soviet chess player in the film The Queen’s Gambit.
He has a tremendous wit that spectators will adore, as evidenced by the fact that he doesn’t really allow Harald much room to manoeuvre. He possesses that tough-love uncle quality.
Elena (Sofya Lebedeva)
One of my favourite characters is Elena, “elucidates Stuart “She is a strong-willed Kyivan Rus nobleman’s daughter.
Paul Maniakes (Florian Munteanu)
According to Deadline, Munteanu will portray General George Maniakes of the Byzantine Empire. Maniakes, a real Greek general who worked with Harald to retake Sicily in 1038, became legendary for his enormous size and strength.
Royal lfgifu (Pollyanna McIntosh)
Pollyanna McIntosh, a star of The Walking Dead, will also appear on the programme as Queen lfgifu. The real-life regent of Norway from 1030 to 1035 is who the figure is modelled after.
Aelfgifu was played by Pollyanna McIntosh in Vikings: Valhalla episode 108.
