In the last episode, “Patience and Faith,” he faces a very hard test. In his first appeal, he was given a 6-month suspension, but he couldn’t accept it. When he takes his case to his bosses again, he fails very badly and is suspended for a total of 14 months. After this terrible blow, he no longer wants to play for his country. But he manages to pull himself together and, with the prayers of his fans and family, he puts himself through more pain by appealing his case again.
This time, he wants to be with only the people who know him best, and the same goes for them. So, he asks Julio to take charge of his case instead. His new lawyer and an old supporter come up with the idea that they should try to get the President of the Peru Football Federation, Oviedo, to join them. This would show that Peru’s support for its best player is official.
After a long battle, Oviedo and Julio, who used to work for the Federation, finally agree on the cause. But Guerrero’s coach doesn’t want him to sign an official statement saying that he is “irreplaceable” for the team. This puts Guerrero in a tough spot, but Guerrero’s coach promises to keep his spot in the final lineup until the very end.
While Geurrero’s team is waiting for the court’s final decision on his suspension, which will also affect his position for the World Cup, they hear that Peru’s rival countries in the same World Cup group have agreed that he can’t be replaced, even though he is their biggest threat. This kind act of sportsmanship makes the player cry and gives him the boost he has been looking for all along.
His return to the pavilion is an emotional event, and he thanks his manager and lawyer, who have been by his side from the beginning, from the bottom of his heart. The fight between Julio and Oviedo is also finally over, and Julio is praised for all he has done to clear Guerrero’s name.
Everyone looks forward to the day of the match, and Guerrero pays for some of his fans’ tickets as a way to thank them for sticking with him through everything. Yes, “The Fight for Justice: Paolo Guerrero” is based on something that really happened. The biographical series tells the story of Peruvian football player Paolo Guerrero, who was accused of using drugs in 2018. He was born on January 1, 1984, in Lima. He started playing soccer in Peru as a young player for Club Alianza Lima. Paolo started playing for Bayern Munich in 2003, and in 23 games during the 2003-04 season, he scored 21 goals.
In 2006, the soccer player switched to Hamburger SV. In 2012, he moved to Corinthians and scored the winning goal in the FIFA World Cup final against Chelsea. He eventually played for the Flamenco, Internacional, and Ava football teams and became one of the most sought-after strikers in the country. Paolo started playing for Peru’s national team as an U17 player in 2001. He then played in tournaments for the U23 team before joining the senior national team in 2004.
Not only that, but Paolo is the first player from his country to be nominated for the prestigious FIFA Ballon d’Or in 2015. Paolo also did well in the prestigious Copa América tournaments and the qualifiers for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, which were held in 2017. Still, the athlete’s luck ran out in October of the same year when he failed a test for doping because he had used a “social drug.” Because of this, FIFA banned him for a month and made him miss the rest of his team’s World Cup qualifying games.
In December 2017, it was said that Paolo had tested positive for benzoylecgonine, which is created when the body breaks down cocaine. FIFA banned him from all tournaments for a year after this shocking news. But his lawyers argued that he hadn’t used cocaine but had accidentally drunk coca tea, a traditional herbal infusion drink that has the same main ingredient as the drug. Two panels of discipline agreed with the reason, so the ban was cut to six months.
Things got worse when, in May 2018, the Court of Arbitration for Sport agreed with the World Anti-Doping Agency’s appeal and made the footballer’s ban last for 14 months. This took him out of the tournament. Even though the court knew that Paolo did not use coca tea to improve his performance, he was still punished for his mistake. As he got ready to miss the 2018 FIFA World Cup, things started to look up a little when, in May of that year, the Swiss Federal Tribunal temporarily lifted his ban.
