Michael Blake Kruse was born on May 19, 1990 in the city of Camp Pendleton, California, which is the primary United States Marine Corps installation on the West Coast.

He was born to Melinda Kay (Purvis) and Michael Dean Kruse, his mother and father. Shortly after Michael was born, both of his parents completed their service in the Marine Corps and received honourable discharges.

He has three younger siblings: a younger brother named Shane Marcus Kruse (born in 1992), a younger brother named Colton Dean Kruse (born in 1998), and a younger sister named Kiersten Kae Kruse (b. 2002).
