Jeff Burton: What happened to him? In memoriam: The Rizzuto Show host, who passed away at age 55.

The Rizzuto Show host Jeff Burton passed suddenly on August 15 at the age of 55. On the official 105.7 website, co-hosts of the radio show Rizzuto, Tony Patrico, Moon Valjean, and King Scott released a statement regarding his passing. “We (they) lost our beloved friend and colleague, Jeff Burton,” they said. They said the following about Burton’s persona in the statement:

Everyone at 105.7 The Point adored and respected Jeff for a variety of reasons, including his kindness, humor, and generosity, to name a few.

Additionally, they stated that “in the coming months” they would “honor” the radio show presenter. Then Rizzuto and company pleaded with followers to remember Burton’s family:

Keep Jeff’s family in your thoughts and remember the guy who gave so much to our station and our community for the time being. The Rizzuto Show and the rest of the staff will pay respect to Jeff in the coming months.
The radio personality received a prostate cancer diagnosis in March 2021 and announced it live on air. In the weeks that followed, Burton started his chemotherapy treatment, and he continued to contribute to the show while doing so.

Jeff Burton was rushed to Missouri Baptist to have two blood transfusions and a platelet transfusion, according to Juli, Jeff Burton’s wife, on July 2. The disease had spread throughout his body, despite the fact that doctors were able to stabilize him. He received hospice care, and on Friday, July 8, he went home.

Sadly, Jeff Burton lost his fight with cancer on Monday after a 17-month struggle.

Following his passing, social media was inundated with condolence posts.

I had the good fortune to work for a number of years directly across the hall from the Rizz Show, and I always enjoyed catching up with Jeff to talk sports.

@Steiney 77 @1057thePoint @RizzShow @jeffburton1057 Steiney Steiney I feel as though a family member has died. Since the 1990s, when I was a senior in high school, I have listened to him on shows like Sarah and Mary Ellen, JT&T, his show and subsequent podcast with Thom, LMB podcast, the Rizz Show, etc. His witticisms will be missed. Love to all of his family and friends.

Recently, Jeff Burton discussed his cancer diagnosis on the program

On July 29, Burton provided health updates, a month after quitting his studio job. He stated:

“The cancer diagnosis has made me really grateful and humbled to realize who is supporting me in all of this, so that’s been one fairly amazing thing,” the patient said. It’s amazing how many people care about you after finding out about them.
At the time of his final appearance, Burton said:

“No matter what happens here moving forward, I know Rizzuto and Tony and everyone have discussed what the future may or may not contain. Whatever part I can be moving ahead, we’re going to try to figure it out together and just keep kicking a*s as long as we can,” said Rizzuto.

Burton started his own fundraising effort called “Man Of Many Hats,” and he was able to raise more than $35,000 through it.

Burton is well-known for attending a lot of concerts and events, most notably the Pointfest music festival. In October 2018, Burton also published his own children’s book, The Watering Hole.

Burton’s family can receive letters and cards from admirers. The cards can be sent to the 105.7 The Point headquarters and delivered right to the family. The office is located at:
