Lee started at point guard for the Drexel Dragons men’s basketball team in 2011–12 during his rookie year. He averaged 12 points and 4.4 rebounds throughout that season. He was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Rookie of the Year for his outstanding college career. After scoring more than 15 points per game in Drexel’s three tournament games, he was also chosen to the CAA All-Tournament team. The Dragons (25-5) fell to Virginia Commonwealth University in the CAA final, 59-56.
