The 42-year-old Dutch fighter took on Jairzinho Rozenstruik as the main event of UFC Fight Night on ESPN in Washington, DC.
And with only a few seconds left in the fifth and final round, he was brutally knocked out.
Referee Dan Miragliotta stopped the fight when “The Demolition Man” got back up on his feet with four seconds left.
Overeem from Rozenstruik was hurt by a spectacular right hook flush, and he also broke his lip.
Even though Overeem lost and hurt his face, all three judges gave him a score of 4-0 at the end of the fight. Even so, he kept smiling through the whole heavyweight fight.
He tweeted, “Having stitches put in. Lip isn’t exactly hot right now—it was a bit of a quick stoppage, if you ask me—but I hope you guys liked the fight.”
Victor Rozenstruik said, “For most of the battle, I looked for an opening but couldn’t find one. In the last round, though, I did. I wasn’t surprised by his plan. He is a skilled and smart fighter, but I was able to win.”

Biography
Overeem was born in Hounslow, England, to a Jamaican father and a Dutch mother. His family tree links him to King William III of the Netherlands. Early years of MMA
After going 10–3 in Fighting Network Rings, M-1, It’s Showtime, and 2 Hot 2 Handle, Overeem made his Pride Fighting Championships debut on July 20, 2002, and beat Yusuke Imamura by TKO in 44 seconds.
Overeem won two more Pride fights before entering the 2003 Pride Middleweight Grand Prix at Pride Total Elimination 2003. In the quarterfinals, he lost to Chuck Liddell, who would go on to win the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship. Overeem got back on his feet and beat Tomohiko Hashimoto in 36 seconds at the Inoki Bom-Ba-Ye in 2003. Overeem fought Hiromitsu Kanehara on October 31, 2004, at Pride 28. He won by TKO in the second round. Overeem’s next fight was against Antônio Rogério Nogueira of the Brazilian Top Team. Overeem lost that fight.
Overeem took part in the Pride Middleweight Grand Prix at Pride Total Elimination 2005. In the first round, he beat UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Vitor Belfort by submission. At Pride Critical Countdown 2005, Overeem went on to fight Igor Vovchanchyn in the quarterfinals and won by submission in less than two minutes. Overeem lost in the semifinals to Maurcio Rua, who went on to win the whole thing.
In February 2006, Overeem fought Sergei Kharitonov, who was the favorite on the Russian Top Team. Overeem won, and in the process, Kharitonov’s shoulder popped out of place. Overeem earned a spot in the PRIDE 2006 Openweight Grand Prix at Pride Total Elimination Absolute by beating Kharitonov. He fought Fabrcio Werdum, a Brazilian who is good at jiu-jitsu, and lost in the second round when Werdum put him in a kimura.
