Criminal Justice’s Plot

Pankaj Tripathi, Vikrant Massey, Jackie Shroff, Anupriya Goenka, Mita Vashisht, Rucha Inamdar, Jagat Rawath, Rithuraj Singh, and Tuhina Vora are the main cast members of the crime drama series Criminal Justice, which also stars Jackie Shroff. After being wrongly accused of killing Sanaya Rath, the protagonist Aditya Sharma’s (played by Vikrant Massey) life undergoes significant transformations throughout the course of the series (portrayed by Madhurima Roy). The total runtime of the series is ten episodes.

The first episode of the series introduces the character of Aditya Sharma, a cab driver who was born into a middle-class household. After he finishes his work, he intends to meet his friends at a pub, but a foul-mouthed lady gets into his cab and keeps on changing location, which causes all of his night plans to be derailed. While he is talking to the lady, he and she discover that they both attended the same college. This brings a smile to both of their faces. Since the lady is prone to irritability due to her history of substance abuse, it is not hard to deduce that she is an addict. After further investigation, the lady was identified as Sanaya Rath.

When the neighbor who will be giving his statement happens to identify Aditya as the murderer, the police inspector ‘Raghu Salian’ (Pankaj Saraswat) and the others search him and they find the murder weapon (they at least assume it to be with him). This leads to Aditya getting caught in the police station itself. When Madhav Mishra (Pankaj Tripathi), a street-smart advocate, makes the mistake of mistaking Aditya’s case for a drunk driving case during the interrogation process, he tells Raghu Salian that he is Aditya’s lawyer. After this, he realizes that he will be handling a murder case, and as a result, his life changes in a significant way. Madhav Mishra breaks the news to Aditya’s parents about the crime, as well as the accusations that their son is responsible for the rape and murder of Sanaya Rath. Aditya is brought before the magistrate within twenty-four hours of his arrest, and he enters a plea of not guilty. The Magistrate, however, denies his request for bail to be released on bond. As a result of this, he will be held in custody by the police for a period of one month. Aditya gives his consent to take a narco test, and a portion of it is subsequently posted on the internet. People begin to make fun of the taxi services company where Aditya would be working when they find out about it. Due to the fact that he has not paid back his debt, Aditya’s brother-in-law, Gaurav Dwiwedi, may soon be subjected to harassment from collection agents. Aditya’s sister, played by Rucha Inamdar, is fired from her work, and the entire family is thereafter subjected to derision by members of the community. Raghu Salian is dead set on demonstrating that Aditya is the person who committed the murder. Soon later, a Supreme Court advocate known as Mandira Mathur (Mita Vashisht) begins to take an interest in Aditya’s case. She begins to represent Aditya and transitions into the role of defense attorney, while Advocate Bhandarkar (Ninad Kamat) assumes the role of the public prosecutor. She has a way with words, and while she is successful in having the rape accusation against Aditya dropped since she was able to show that it was consensual, she is not successful in having him acquitted. As a result of the overwhelming amount of evidence pointing towards Aditya, he is being urged to sign a plea negotiating deal (in which, if you plead guilty, your sentence would be lowered). As a result of Mandira Mathur asking Aditya to pay attention to what his heart is telling him, he enters a plea of not guilty and the case is dropped. Nikhat, Mandira Mathur’s assistant, played by Anupriya Goenka, takes over as Aditya’s legal counsel.

You can see Aditya gradually adjusting to the environment of the prison, just like Andrew “Andy” Dufresne did in Shawshank redemption, which is where we can draw similarities between Criminal Justice Season 1 and Shawshank redemption. The series will soon drift into the life spent by a convict in prison. This is where we can draw similarities between Criminal Justice Season 1 and Shawshank redemption (Tim Robbins). After being saved by Taklya (Tushar Gaware) during Layak Talukdar’s (Dibyendu Bhattacharya) attempt to seduce him, he decides to become a member of Mustafa (Jackie Shroff) and the gang. Both Layak’s gang and Mustafa’s gang have complete control over their respective halves of the prison. Aditya begins associating himself with Mustafa and the rest of the gang, and in one of the episodes, both he and Mustafa are erroneously accused of dealing drugs within the jail. As a result, both of them are sentenced to one year in solitary confinement. The plot then shifts to focus on how Aditya becomes one of the members of Mustafa’s gang and how he begins to rebel against Layak. In the meantime, Aditya’s sister gets a divorce from her husband and fights for custody of their children, and Aditya’s father starts working again so the family can make ends meet. However, they continue to hold onto the belief that Aditya will one day be released from the prison where he is currently being held.

To return to the investigation, Nikhat and Madhav begin working together to investigate the crime, during which time they develop a positive relationship with one another. Soon after, Nikhat, Madhav, and Raghu Salian learn that Sanaya Rath is a drug addict and that she volunteered at LDFR, a drug rehabilitation center, which is run by Naresh Lakani and his wife Kanika Lakani. Additionally, a young lady named Pallavi, who formerly worked for LDFR, reveals that Naresh Lakani operates a racket of child prostitution by trading underprivileged children. Sanaya had the intention of telling everyone about this secret, but Kanika Lakani was adamant about preventing it from happening. In the end, Aditya engages in combat with Layak, and just as Aditya is ready to murder Layak, Mustafa steps in and finishes the job for him. The prison sentence against Aditya has been lifted. He emerges from his time behind bars stronger and more courageous than he was before he went in.
