Ashley Kerr, Mark Daigneault’s wife, took a chance when she moved from Florida to Oklahoma.
Ashley had a good job with the Gators as an aspiring coach, and she could stay there and try to move up in the coaching hierarchy of the organization. But she thought she was ready for a new challenge in a different place.
The 2020–2021 NBA season was Coach Daigneault’s first as a head coach. In the 2019–2020 season, he was an assistant coach for the Thunder. Before he joined the Thunder, he was the head coach of the Oklahoma City Blue, the Thunder’s G-League team, for five years.
Coach Daigneault’s regular-season record with the Blue was 143-107, and he led the team to three straight division titles.

Kerr and head coach K.J. Kindler have led the beam team to five straight top-three finishes in the country, including back-to-back No. 1 finishes in 2018 and 2019.
OU legends Maggie Nichols and Anastasia Webb and current Sooners Ragan Smith, Olivia Trautman, and Audrey Davis were among the seven Sooners who earned 15 All-American honors on beam during Kerr’s first five years as coach.
Nichols and Smith have also competed for the beam team at the conference level. In 2019 and 2021, they won the Big 12 championships.

She tried to play for the Florida Gators
Kerr played for the Florida Gators from 2007 to 2010. He was on the NCAA Scholastic All-American team four times and was on the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
She was the head of the UF Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and won the UF Alumni Association’s Outstanding Leadership Award in 2010.
While at Florida, Kerr was a part of three national championship teams. From 2013 to 2015, the Gators won three straight national titles. Kerr competed on 10 Super Six teams and 5 SEC Championship teams as a gymnast and staff member.
According to her player’s bio, she did a demonstration on the balancing beam against Utah, won the female character award, and was chosen for the Southeastern Conference Gymnastics Community Service Team at the first-ever Florida Letterman Awards ceremony.
At the team’s annual awards ceremony, she was named a “CommuniGator” for her work as a volunteer in the community and for being on the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
She also worked for free as a manager
After he graduated, Kerr was the team manager from 2011 to 2013. Before that, he was the student manager for the 2011 season, which he did for free. As an assistant to the head coach at Florida, Kerr helped with a lot of different parts of the program.

Kerr and Daigneault have been married for years and say they were the first married coaching couple in Oklahoma.
She stayed on as a coach for the OU women’s gymnastics team, and he went from being the head coach of OKC Blue to the Thunder assistant coach to the Thunder head coach.
His wife said that it is hard to find things in the same state, let alone the same neighborhood. She said that any coaching couple could agree with this. Ashley told him she was grateful for him because it seemed like things couldn’t get any better for them.
