TOMBALL, TEXAS: A former Texas junior high school teacher who sexually abused a 13-year-old student for more than three years will only have to serve 60 days in prison and 10 years of probation because she just had a baby on Tuesday, August 2, 2022. But the prosecutors wanted a prison sentence of up to 40 years.
Marka Bodine, who is 32 years old, was found guilty of sexually abusing a young boy. Bodine met the boy when she taught English at a Texas school called Tomball Intermediate School. When Bodine met the boy, she was already married. Court documents say that the abuse went on for three years and that Bodine had sex with the boy several times in her classroom and in her car. After she got divorced, she even moved into the building where he lived.
Court documents say that the inappropriate relationship was found out in 2021 when Bodine told the principal of Tomball Intermediate School that a former student was bothering her. Bodine told the principal that the 13-year-old boy had threatened to hurt himself and had access to both her personal photos and photos that had been changed.
Investigators say that when they looked through both Bodine’s phone and the boy’s phone, they found that they had sent each other several messages and pictures. Some of the pictures were about sexual things. The affidavit says that when the boy was questioned by police, he said that Bodine became his friend while they were playing an online video game together and then started texting him.
The minor said that the two of them started sending each other explicit pictures and having sex soon after he turned 13. They stayed together for another three years. According to the affidavit, the boy told the police that Bodine moved into his apartment complex after she got divorced and that he and Bodine had sex several times in her classroom and car.
Investigators say that Bodine eventually admitted that he had a sexual relationship with the former student and sent her sexually explicit photos and videos.
The boy is 16 years old now, and he is not Bodine’s baby’s father. The prosecutors say that she must also sign up as a sex offender.
