MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: The New York Police Department has arrested Isaac Argro, the man who is believed to be the person who shot Azsia Johnson from point blank range while she was pushing their 3-month-old baby in a stroller on the Upper East Side. The shooting occurred while Azsia Johnson was pushing the stroller while on the Upper East Side.
On Wednesday, June 29, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Johnson was fatally shot in the head. On Friday, July 1, Commissioner Keechant Sewell of the New York Police Department made the announcement that Argro has been charged with the murder of Johnson as well as criminal possession of a weapon.
The information was disclosed on the Twitter account of Commissioner Swell “In connection with the tragic shooting death of Azsia Johnson on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, 22-year-old Isaac Argro has been apprehended and charged with the murder of Azsia Johnson as well as criminal possession of a weapon. @NYPD The pursuit of justice by the detectives continues unabatedly with their dogged determination.” The New York Post uncovered additional information from its sources, which stated that when investigators approached Argro at the station house for Manhattan’s 19th Precinct, Argro refused to speak with them and instead asked for his attorney. Brownsville, in the borough of Brooklyn, proved to be the location of his capture. It is revealed that even though Johnson was keeping her distance from Argro, she wanted to meet her child’s father because she felt guilty for not involving him in the process. This occurred despite the fact that Johnson was maintaining her distance from Argro. Therefore, the intention was to meet on Wednesday night, which is when she was shot near Lexington Avenue and East 95th Street. Unfortunately, the plan did not go as planned.
Johnson’s mother, Lisa Desort, had previously shared her thoughts with the publication, stating that Argro would continually “Argro was able to discover the location of my daughter’s home in some way.” During a vigil held on Thursday evening with candles, Desort made a request to the city that it take cases of domestic violence more seriously. She also mentioned that she had met with Mayor Eric Adams and discussed how she could become a voice for victims of domestic violence. In her words: “I will make an effort to do something about the issue of domestic violence. I have the gut feeling that another young woman who is being abused could benefit from hearing my story and learning from my experiences.” She stated this in an interview that took place on Friday evening “Although justice is being done, the fact that it “won’t bring my girl back” means that it cannot undo the harm that has already been caused. My newborn is still inside the ice chest.”
Who exactly is this Isaac Argro?
According to her relatives and other sources, the 22-year-old man from Brooklyn who is accused of repeatedly abusing and stalking Johnson was on the government’s radar for quite some time due to the allegations that he committed these acts of violence against Johnson. Argro would ultimately track her down, as her own mother had predicted many times before. It was found out that she had reported domestic violence to the authorities on the first day of the new year, stating that Argro had abused her when she was six months pregnant. At one point, the mother, who is only 20 years old, moved herself and her child into a shelter for victims of domestic violence in East Harlem in order to shield themselves from the wrath of the baby’s father; however, Argro tracked her down there as well.
After her passing, it was discovered by a market vendor named India, who is 43 years old and sells a variety of goods near East 104th Street, that Johnson had been selling her possessions in order to buy a new place and get away from Argro for good. India works near the area. India said, “She stated that he is aware of where she currently resides. Because she is making an effort to leave, she is selling me a lot of things. She had apprehensions. She was very adamant that her father not find out where she was living. I can still remember asking her, “What happened?” What happen? Talk to me.’ She remarked, “India, I am attempting to depart.” I told him to follow me, and he did.’ I had been waiting for her to arrive. She was attempting to bring additional items. Because her [ex-]boyfriend was being a nuisance, she made an attempt to leave the area. It’s a catastrophe… It makes me sad to think that she has passed away.”
