The Netflix show The Watcher was filmed in a seaside suburb called The Rye, New York, instead of the real location, which was in Westchester County, New York State.

It looks like Halloween will be a little earlier this year, thanks to Ryan Murphy, Ian Brennan, and their show “The Watcher,” which will debut on Netflix at some point this fall.

The fact that the show says the house was built in 1921 and has five bathrooms, a half-basement, four bedrooms, a half-attic, and an indoor swimming pool is interesting.
On the other hand, the real Broaddus family house was built in 1905, is almost half an acre big, has six bedrooms, four bathrooms, several fireplaces, but no pool. But the Rye house, which stands in for the Westfield house, was built in 2016 by the architectural firm Douglas VanderHorn in Greenwich, Connecticut.
The house is bigger than the Broaddus’ old home. It has six bedrooms, all of which have their own bathrooms, and seven bathrooms in an amazing 10,166 square feet. It is also next to a lot of land that is much bigger than 0.46 acres, measuring 1.25 acres.
The Rye house is more recent. It was built in 2016 by the Greenwich, Connecticut-based architectural firm Douglas VanderHorn. It was last sold in August 2020 for $1.93 million.
On the beautiful grounds, there is a gravel driveway that goes all the way around, pretty stone walls, an outdoor fireplace, several grassy areas, a large terrace, and a 70-foot pool with a spa attached to it.

The release date for “The Watcher” has been set
You can only watch “The Watcher” on Netflix. On Thursday, October 13, 2022, people will be able to watch all seven episodes. The series has a rating of MA. Because of this, you might not want to watch it with your family.
The Watcher was influenced by the events that Reeves Wiedeman wrote about in his 2018 story for New York Magazine/The Cut. It tells about the real-life experiences of Derek and Maria Broaddus, a married couple who bought 657 Boulevard, a big house in Westfield, New Jersey, in 2014. They thought it would be the perfect house for them, but when renovations started on the $1.3 million home before they moved in, they got a shocking letter addressed to “The New Owner.”
Before the house’s “second coming,” the person who wrote the letter said they were the Watcher and gave that name. Derek and Maria sent an email to the home’s previous owners. They replied that they had received a similar note right before they moved out, but they had never seen anything like it in the 23 years they had lived there, so they threw the letter away.
Over time, as the family continued to fix up the house before moving in, they kept getting letters from “The Watcher,” who always knew the kids’ nicknames.
Michael Langford, the Broaddus’ next-door neighbor, was brought in for questioning because his house overlooked the Broaddus’ and because people in the area thought he was part of an odd family. Langford was a suspect at first, but he was cleared in the end.
Then, Derek and Maria hired their own private investigators to find out what was going on. Robert Lenehan, one of the detectives and a former FBI agent, looked at the letter and found clues that The Watcher was an older person. The detective had a lot of ideas about people who wanted to buy the house but didn’t get it. He also thought that The Watcher might have been inspired by the Keanu Reeves movie The Watcher, in which a serial killer follows a detective who is trying to catch him.
