After a freshman at Texas Christian University passed away in 2019 after being dragged off a boat while they were flirting, five Texas college students are now facing criminal charges.

A witness claimed she saw Jack Elliot fall from the bow of a 22-foot boat in October 2019 when they were flirting on the waters of Lake Travis, an artificial lake northwest of Austin, after Delaney Brennan, 21.

A jury found that some of the persons involved will face charges and a trial for their offences even if the case was privately settled in 2021.

Joshua Evans of Aliso Viejo, one of the youths on board, was charged with a misdemeanour for serving alcohol to a minor. Elle Weber, on the other hand, was charged with lying to a police officer.
