After a freshman at Texas Christian University passed away in 2019 after being dragged off a boat while they were flirting, five Texas college students are now facing criminal charges.
A witness claimed she saw Jack Elliot fall from the bow of a 22-foot boat in October 2019 when they were flirting on the waters of Lake Travis, an artificial lake northwest of Austin, after Delaney Brennan, 21.
A jury found that some of the persons involved will face charges and a trial for their offences even if the case was privately settled in 2021.

One of the teenagers charged with misdemeanour perjury was Anthony Salazar.
By the end of 2021, the legal system had stepped in, and Travis County grand juries heard criminal matters largely involving the alleged cover-up.
Similar to this, Delaney Brennan was accused of criminal evidence tampering after allegedly assisting in the removal of cellphone video.
In October 2019, Jack Elliott, a 19-year-old student at Texas Christian University, is said to have been thrown from a boat when it was on a lake close to Austin.
Carson Neel was accused of tampering with physical evidence, a felony, because to the alleged alcohol overboard. If found guilty, each defendant could be sentenced to up to 10 years in jail and a fine of $10,000 in Texas.
Joshua Evans of Aliso Viejo, one of the youths on board, was charged with a misdemeanour for serving alcohol to a minor. Elle Weber, on the other hand, was charged with lying to a police officer.
The parents of Carson Neel, Elle Weber, and Delaney Brennan each declined to comment. While phone calls seeking comment left for Caden Strauss, Joshua Evans, and Anthony Salazar’s parents went unanswered.

He also attended Mater Dei High School and graduated from there. He also has a part-time job as a peer advisor at Texas Christian University’s M.J. Neeley School of Business, according to his LinkedIn page.
He also works at Metalife as a blockchain analyst intern.

Salazar has been charged with perjury and is currently under arrest. A perjurer may get a sentence of up to five years in jail and fines under federal law.
The consequences for lying vary by state law, but perjury is a felony that carries a mandatory minimum one-year jail sentence as well as fines and probation.

When he died in October 2019, allegedly as a result of a scheme to hide the facts, the other youths on the boat told various stories about what had happened that evening.
A group of about a dozen teens and students had been drinking on the boat for the day.
The gang panicked when Jack disappeared, though. By telling the police a lie about who had been in control of the boat that day, they allegedly came up with a plan.
The Daily Mail said that all the booze that had been onboard was allegedly emptied into the water before the boat returned to the marina, per a game warden’s report that was submitted two months after the disaster.
