A person on Instagram named @juulpuppy started the trend. This person has a history of making memes out of children’s book characters. She said this while talking about what was going viral at the time.
“I’ve made memes for If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, and all these other children’s books. So, I was trying to think of a meme that was kind of silly and fun.”
The character behind the trends comes from Mr. Men and Little Miss, two children’s books from the 1990s. The first one came out in 1971, and the second one came out in 1981. Roger Hargreaves is a British author who wrote the books.
Later, the same name was given to an animated show for kids based on the characters. From 1994 to 1997, the show ran for three seasons and 104 episodes, plus three specials.
