Thu Nhi was supposed to face off against the champion and defend her title during Etsuko Tada’s first attempt to defend her title as the WBO tiny flyweight champion. On October 23, 2021, at the Wadong Gymnasium in Ansan, South Korea, the fight was planned to take place on the undercard of Olimjon Nazarov vs. Michael Mendoza’s WBO Oriental flyweight title fight. Thu Nhi received ratings of 96-94 from each of the three judges, who unanimously selected her as the winner of the contest.
