When she awoke, she was surrounded by wreckage. The masts were entirely broken off, the sails were swinging in the water, and the main cabin was submerged. Amazingly, however, the ship was still afloat.
Sharp, though, was gone. The safety equipment was hanging in the water, and Ashcraft’s fiancée was missing. Ashcraft believes that the wind’s force was too great, causing him to be thrown into the water and dragged by the massive swells.
Before getting married to Edward, she mourned Richard’s passing for ten years.
