Slow Horses: Filming Locations

‘Slow Horses’ is a thrilling spy thriller show that was written by British comedian Will Smith and based on Mick Herron’s espionage books. It’s a new show on Apple TV+ that stars Gary Oldman as Jackson Lamb, the boss of a paper-pushing purgatory for MI5 service members who don’t get the job done. A game in Regent’s Park draws attention to the slow horses at the Slough House, which makes their lives even more boring.

Following its premiere, the show was talked about by the media because of its stellar cast and unique story about drudgery. The story takes place in and around London, and while the Slough House is still at the heart of the story, the show takes us to London subways and royal parks to make the show feel gloomy and tense. Now, you may want to look for places where the show is filmed. If you are having trouble with the project, let us help you.

Slow Horses: Filming Locations

A lot of the movie “Slow Horses” was filmed all over England. It was shot in London, Essex and Stroud. After some time because of the pandemic, principal photography started on November 30, 2020. It took a long time to film the first season. It came to an end on June 25, 2021. Second season is being planned for March 2022. Tom Burton, who is famous for his work on “The Night Manager,” did the production design for the show. James Hawes directed all six episodes of the show’s first season. Let’s now show you where the show is filmed in real life.

London, United Kingdom

To make the show feel edgy, the cast and crew filmed all over London, showing the city in a way that isn’t usually seen in movies. Historic Smithfield Market and Grand Avenue, which is where London’s government is based, were used in the filming of the movie. An old red-brick house at 126 Aldersgate Street near the Barbican station lends the Slough House a shady look. The crew made some rain for filming, and the house looks like the Slough House. In the set, there was a fake bus stop, bags of trash, and a fake Chinese restaurant called “New Empire.”

Most of the interior scenes in season 1 were shot in East London’s 3 Mills Studios, which is on an island near Stratford. With 11 filming stages and nine rehearsal rooms, the studio is one of the largest in the city and one of the easiest to get to. There have been a lot of classic movies that have been to the studio in the past, like “Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels” by Guy Ritchie and “Eastern Promises.” We also filmed there, at the Berwick Street Market in the Soho neighbourhood of London.

Oldman and Kristin Scott Thomas were seen filming near the Regent’s Canal in North London. A lot of movie-making also took place in Regent’s Park near the canal. High Wycombe became “High Wycombe” in October, when the cast and crew took over Cambridge train station. The crew built a huge set on the grounds of the Old Royal Naval College, which is a historic site in London.

Essex, England

The cast and crew also took a trip outside of London to walk along the shores of the coast. Because of this, they went to the county of Essex to film some parts. In the town of Harwich, a lot of footage has been shot at the Harwich Haven Authority port. The pier is near the Navigation House in the Angelgate area of Harwich. It has a stunning view of the North Sea.

Stroud, England

During the summer of 2021, some filming for the second season took place in Stroud, a market town and civil parish in the county of Gloucestershire. Due to the filming process, some businesses in the area got a boost and even had their entire businesses changed. Stroud-based taxi service A & A Taxis had a new number and sign in the show. As for the “Station Cafe,” CafĂ© Max, a well-known local eatery at Westbourne House, in 21-23 Russell Street, serves as the place.
