Season 4 of Netflix’s ‘Ozark’ comes to a close with a dark chapter that makes it plain that things are changing, but perhaps not for the better in this case. When the Navarro cartel finds itself in a vulnerable position, Wendy and Marty Byrde discover that their futures are closely linked to the organization’s leader. For the majority of the episode, Omar Navarro has exercised control over the cartel and the lives of everyone who has come into contact with it. Season 4 features not one, but two potential competitors for the top slot, which is a significant change from the previous seasons.
Javi, Omar Navarro’s hysterical nephew, and Javi’s mother, Camila, are both ambitious to take leadership of the cartel. It goes without saying that Navarro must be moved out of the way to accomplish this. The original chief of the cartel appears to be less strong now that he is imprisoned. Is Omar Navarro still alive or dead at the end of Season 4 Part 2 of the show?
Omar Navarro spends the most of season 4 in prison, despite the fact that the cartel is in and out of his power at various points. Following Javi’s death, it is revealed that his mother, Camila, also wishes Navarro to be removed from the picture. As a result, Wendy and Marty discover that their efforts to extradite him back to Mexico have been thwarted by Camila’s attorney. The fact that she wants her brother out of the way is, of course, kept a secret from everyone. The Byrdes, on the other hand, come to the realization that they should probably swap allegiances and support Camila instead.
In order to protect Camila from the FBI’s investigation, Marty and Wendy reveal Navarro’s involvement with the agency to her, suggesting her to take over as cartel leader. Camila, maybe unaware of her own cunning, follows their advice. They also vow to act as a go-between for her and the FBI in order to reach an agreement. This is virtually a green signal for Navarro to be removed from the picture, as neither the Byrdes nor Camila have any use for him at this point. a plan is devised to kill him and make it appear as though he was shot while trying to flee is put in place
Meanwhile, Navarro continues to believe that he will be deported to Mexico and that he will reclaim his freedom soon. As a result, when the orders to move him are given, he readily accepts them. Navarro, on his way to his new prison, is shot and killed by the Byrdes, who were aware of his whereabouts and were present at the time. The police officer who shoots him then claims he was injured in a fight with Navarro and then shoots him again.
Due to the death of Navarro, Camila has taken over as the de facto leader of the Navarro cartel, placing Marty and Wendy under her control. The Byrdes’ inability to halt Camila’s plot to assassinate Ruth near the end of the season 4 finale (episode 14) demonstrates the shift in power dynamic quite clearly. Camila, on the other hand, appears to be a ruthlessly merciless criminal who is far more dangerous than she appears to be.
The death of Omar results in the loss of virtually all influence in the Navarro Cartel, which Marty had gained thanks to his former boss’s approval. It is also evident that Camila does not trust the Byrdes and will not endure them for any longer than she is required to do so. The only power they have over the new mob boss comes from the fact that they are aware that she is also working for the FBI in the shadows. Knowing such a hazardous truth about a cartel leader, on the other hand, makes the core couple’s position extremely risky, since even the slightest mistake can result in their deaths.
Although he is known for his outbursts and brutality, Omar Navarro is a leader who maintains a cool head under pressure. This is why both Marty and Wendy have been able to advise and steer him in a direction that is beneficial to both of their interests. However, with the death of the previous cartel chief, Camila depicts an uncertain future in which the Byrdes appear to have lost many of their former supporters and are now at the whim of an unidentified new cartel lord. Their sole relief comes in the form of a letter from the FBI, which protects them from being prosecuted. However, it appears that there is nothing that can protect them from Navarro’s successor, Camila, who appears to be a threat.
