Sons of Liberty: What Are They?
It is a group of people who want the thirteen colonies to be free from British rule. They are opposed to the Loyalists, who want to keep them. There was an organisation with the same name in the colonies between 1765 and 1776. This organisation is based on that one. The Stamp Act of 1765, which taxed many printed materials directly, was the main reason the group was started. It was to protect the colonists from the tax. Afterwards, the group focused on getting rid of the colonies from Great Britain. This is what the show shows.

Is Cornelius Harnett A Real Person?
It is true that Cornelius Harnett is based on someone who is alive and well now. John Harnett was one of the founding fathers of the United States. He helped lead the American Revolution against the British Crown. Harnett was the head of the Sons of Liberty in 1765. He led the group’s protests against the Stamp Act. Afterward, he was the first president of the North Carolina Provincial Council, which was a kind of shadow government for the Patriots. They ran the state with very little power.
Harnett was a member of the Continental Congress from 1777 to 1779, which was a group of people who ran the government in the thirteen colonies. In addition, the statesman signed the Articles of Confederation, which is what the United States was called when it was first formed. He was taken by the British in January 1781, after the British took over Wilmington. In prison, Harnett’s health got worse, so he didn’t live long. Afterward, he died on April 28, 1781, when he was freed on parole. During the American Revolution, Harnett County in North Carolina was named after him because of all he did to help the people of the United States.
