Olivia Tyler, a 33-year-old nurse who uses TikTok, has come under fire for posting a video to her account shortly after one of her patients passed away. Social media users criticized her for lacking empathy and asked who she truly was. The now-famous video was published on June 17 and is widely shared on social media. It never gets easier, according to the TikTok post by Olivia Tylerr33. She marches back and forth in the hospital hallway as the caption for the video reads, “Lost a patient today.” It spread like wildfire, and many of the comments were sympathetic and discussed how challenging it is to practice medicine in that way.
After receiving so much reaction, the nurse removed the video, but it was too late. In order to draw attention to the post and express their opinions on it, other TikTok profiles have in fact “dueted” it. “When someone passes away, the first thing they do is create an edited TikTok and submit it for comments. Additionally, exposure,” tweeted marc0p0l0o3. Olivia hasn’t been very explicit about the offensive remarks. However, many of the remarks on her later TikTok videos refer to a fresh post.
Over the video, a depressing song can be heard: “I put on my armor to prove to you how powerful I am. To demonstrate who I am to you, I’m donning my armor. I’m invincible. Making a video was opposed at the time since it was perceived as insulting to the ill individual and his or her family. Others questioned whether a real patient had indeed passed away, while some pointed out and questioned whether the video was fake or not.
Twitter users didn’t hesitate for long before making sure their voices were heard. A tweet with a link to the video remarked, “Aw guy, I can’t believe my patient died, let me go make a tiktok rq [real quick],” and has received more than 14 million views.
“I get that you want people to realize how difficult it is to work in healthcare, but it appears like a patient was just used for likes and views,” an another Twitter user remarked. This wasn’t the best approach to tell a story; there are other ways.
Some of the nurses also expressed their opinions and thoughts on this matter. “A nurse has never performed this. When helping patient A, we are also considering patients B and C because we are caring for multiple patients at once. There isn’t time for this, and it actually makes you very difficult. You draw attention by doing this, wrote @Ray82253885.
“I had a lot of people die on my watch during the pandemic—like a lot—and this kind of performative bullshit gets me so upset I can’t even articulate it,” another nurse, @anccpt, wrote on Twitter.
Arguments over TikTok have long been prevalent, largely because idiots submit absurd content on this social networking platform. But a nurse has been involved in an altercation like this before. A nurse was disciplined in 2021 for what she was alleged to have done to victims in films that turned out to be practical jokes.
