Larry Strickland is still reeling from the news of his wife’s death
Larry Strickland is still reeling from the news that his wife, Naomi Judd, was killed by a self-inflicted gunshot wound. On Thursday morning, his daughter, Ashley Judd, revealed the cause of his death.
Ashley discussed her mother’s death with Diane Sawyer on “Good Morning America.” And how the Judd family has dealt with it in the weeks since.
Her family, she explained, wanted to keep the flow of information concerning her death under control before an autopsy. “She used a weapon, my mother used a pistol,” Ashley explained to Sawyer.
“It’s the piece of information we’re most hesitant to reveal, but we know that if we don’t, someone else will.”
Ashley added that her family had wanted her to speak about her mother’s death in order to raise awareness about the illness and lead people to the correct resources.
Shortly after their mother’s death, Ashley Judd and her sister, Wynonna, released a statement blaming her death on “mental illness.”
The Judds, a musical duo consisting of Wynonna Judd and her mother, were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame the day after Naomi Judd died in a tragic ceremony.
She went on to warn that it’s vital to notice your loved ones’ mental health because the illness could be severe.
