During the year 2003, Thornton watched an episode of MTV Diaries starring Christina Aguilera and learned that The Pussycat Dolls were holding auditions for a new member of the group. The audition for Thornton was held on December 2, 2003, and he was selected for the role later that same month. Thornton did not perform any other types of music during her audition; nonetheless, due to the need for additional vocal strength, she was still admitted for the group as a soprano vocalist. She, along with the other Dolls, worked for Interscope Records on a full-time basis as an employee. Because she is the youngest and shortest member of the group, the other members of the group refer to her as “Baby Doll.”
In 2005, the Pussycat Dolls achieved worldwide success with their album PCD.
