Collins moved to Washington, D.C., after he finished college. She was hired by The Daily Caller in June 2014 to write about entertainment. After covering the 2016 presidential election, the Daily Caller made her their White House correspondent in January 2017, and she started writing about the Trump administration.
Collins was asked to appear on CNN several times while she was still at The Daily Caller. In the spring of 2017, she met network president Jeff Zucker at a White House correspondent event. She thanked him for having her on, even though her current employer has different political views. Collins was then interviewed and hired in July 2017 to join CNN’s White House team. She went to at least six countries with Trump on his trips.
