Mark had already hitched, and at the time he was living well in Springfield, Illinois. Mark hired Rebecca Simic, a full-time nanny, to care for his daughter, whom he and his first wife had just adopted a few months before she died. This was after his first wife died. They fell in love quickly and got married.
