Kyle Honore, a student athlete at the university’s main campus, was tragically killed on Tuesday night after being struck by a train, according to campus officials.
According to the university in Charlotte, Honore was hit by the train on Tuesday just before 10:45 p.m. According to the university administration, the student was taken by ambulance to the hospital but later died as a result of his injuries.
Wingate is “paying a visit to Kyle’s family and helping them deal with this terrible situation.”
