Corrinne Arnold and Ron Arnold brought Kristi Noem into the world in Watertown, South Dakota. Her father died in an accident with farm equipment. She comes from Norwegian parents and is an Evangelical Christian. She grew up with her brothers and sisters, who later helped her grow her business. After the terrible accident that killed her father, she went to South Dakota State University and took classes online.

Kristi Noem ran for office again on November 12, 2021. Steven Haugaard ran against her for governor on November 17, the same year. On June 7, 2022, she won the nomination for the 2022 election from the Republican Party. She beat Haugaard with 76 percent of all votes cast, and she now has to wait until November.
