The “National Basketball Association” is no stranger to Jordan Taylor Clarkson, better known by his stage name, Jordan Clarkson. Prior to transferring to Missouri, where he was chosen to the Southeastern Conference second team, he played basketball for Tulsa for two seasons.

In 2021, Jordan was named the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year. In order to pursue his greatest goal, Clarkson forwent his senior year of college and entered the 2014 NBA draft. The Washington Wizards selected Clarkson with the 46th overall pick in the second round, and he was then traded to the Los Angeles Lakers.

On June 7, 1992, in Tampa, Florida, the United States, Jordan Clarkson was born to African-American father Mike Clarkson and American-Filipina Marcelina Tullao Kingsolver.

His father worked at the “Air Force Personnel Center” as the human resources manager. Additionally, Mike, a basketball coach, who gave Jordan his start in the sport at a young age, had a significant influence on Jordan’s career. His mother also served in the US Air Force in a similar capacity.

Early life of Jordan Clarkson

African-American Mike Clarkson and American-Filipina Annette Tullao Davis welcomed Clarkson into the world in Tampa, Florida. He made the 2014 All-SEC second team while redshirting his junior year. In addition, he received three Player of the Week awards from the Southeastern Conference and was chosen to the Wooden Award Midseason Top 25 list in January 2014. He played 35.1 minutes per game in 35 games (all starts), averaging 17.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.1 steals.

On March 31, 2014, Clarkson announced he would forgo his last year of NCAA eligibility to enter the NBA draft.

Los Angeles Lakers professional career

The Washington Wizards selected Clarkson with the 46th overall choice in the 2014 NBA Draft on June 26, 2014. He later joined the Los Angeles Lakers for the 2014 NBA Summer League after being dealt to them on draft night for financial considerations .He joined the Lakers on August 25, 2014.

He was frequently assigned to the Los Angeles D-Fenders of the NBA Development League during his rookie season, and throughout the majority of the first half of the campaign, he did not play for the Lakers. He ultimately started 38 games for the Lakers, mostly at point guard, and as a starter he averaged 15.8 points, 5.0 assists, and 4.2 rebounds.

He had a season-high game with 30 points and 7 assists against the Oklahoma City Thunder on March 24, 2015.

By starting along with Jeremy Lin, the two made league history as the first starting backcourt composed of Asian Americans.

 On October 26, 2016, Clarkson came off the bench to help the Lakers defeat the Houston Rockets 120-114 in their season opener. Clarkson finished with a team-high 25 points. He had a career-high five steals on November 15, 2016, in a 125-118 victory over the Brooklyn Nets.  He tied his career high on March 12, 2017, as he scored 30 points off the bench in a 118-116 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. On March 24, 2017, he defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 130-119 in overtime with career highs of 35 points and eight 3-pointers.

In a 100-93 victory over the Phoenix Suns on November 13, 2017, Clarkson recorded a season-high 25 points in 26 minutes while playing off the bench.

 He achieved a new season best on January 19, 2018, when he scored 33 points in a 99-86 victory over the Indiana Pacers.

On February 8, 2018, Isaiah Thomas, Channing Frye, and a 2018 first-round draft pick were acquired by the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for Clarkson and Larry Nance Jr.

Joe Ingles, a colleague on the Jazz, finished in second place for the NBA Sixth Man of the Year Award, which he won. Clarkson was the first athlete from Utah to receive the honor.

In a 134-125 victory over the Sacramento Kings on March 12, 2022, Clarkson recorded a career-high 45 points on 15-for-21 field goal shooting.
