After the Sachsgate scandal, Jonathan Ross criticizes the “boring” BBC
Following his Sachsgate episode on Radio 2, Jonathan Ross believes the BBC has become even more dull.
Many people will reflect on the company’s response to the public backlash that followed the 2008 incident in which comedian and TV presenter Russell Brand prank-called Andrew Sachs, who played Andrew in the Fawlty Towers, using Russell’s current number and left lewd messages on his answering machine.
Russell also boasted about having sex with Georgina Baillie, Andrew’s granddaughter, with whom he had a quick romance.
When this happened, the BBC fired Russell and placed Jonathan on paid leave for three months, while the Ofcom fined the BBC £150,000.
Jonathan now admits that despite hosting his Radio 2 show for 10 years, he doesn’t frequently listen to the group.
On his Audible podcast, he said: “I wish it was a little bit more interesting.” Dermot O’Leary responded in like. It often seems as though they no longer take risks, as they formerly did.

Obviously, I’m a contributing factor to the fact that they no longer practice it due to Russell and I’s significant c*ck-up on his current.
It is one of the numerous reasons why they allowed themselves to be pushed once more into the mindset of “Oh, don’t take risks, don’t take chances.”
I can see that to some level, but at the same time, that is why I don’t pay attention to the masses, Jonathan continued.
Despite Sachsgate becoming a public controversy, the host admitted he had never even considered leaving the network and said the problem had been “blown out of all proportion.”
He remarked, “I didn’t want the folks who had been backing me and backing Russell to win.”
They would have won if it had happened. Although I didn’t have to, I actually said, “You know you can’t put that out unless we have his [Sachs’s] consent,” after the recording. You need to be certain. The BBC was unable to hearth me for that reason.

Prior to the incident, Jonathan said that it had brought him and Russell closer together.
Russell and I went through a unique experience together, and even though we’re both ashamed by what we did, the one truly positive thing that came out of it for me was the fact that we grew very close and I value you as a friend, he said in 2013 while speaking on The Jonathan Ross Show.
