Following the announcement of the verdict, the actor, who is 59 years old, issued a statement that read as follows: “Six years ago, my life, the life of my children, the life of those closest to me, and also, the life of the people who for a very long time have supported and believed in me were forever changed.”
He proceeded by saying, “Everything happened in the wink of an eye. Even though I was never arrested or charged with a crime, the media spread malicious rumors about me that were extremely grave and criminal in nature. As a result, I was subjected to a never-ending onslaught of offensive material. It had already gone around the world twice in the span of a nanosecond, and it had a profound effect on both my personal life and my professional life. And then, six years later, the court restored my life to its previous state. “I am sincerely humbled,” she said, adding later, “I hope that my struggle to get the truth told will have helped others, men or women, who have found themselves in my circumstances, and that those supporting them will never give up.” I am truly humbled.
