Jesenea Miron: Who is she? California woman, 23, is detained for attempting to steal a child while pretending to be a nurse.

California’s Riverside: Jesenea Miron, 23, of Moreno Valley, was reportedly detained on Friday, July 15, by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office after allegedly attempting to take a child from the Riverside University Health System Medical Center on Thursday, July 14, at about 10.30 am. The Robert Presley Detention Center received a kidnapping accusation against Miron, 23, who is now being kept in custody after posting a $1 million bail.

According to reports, Miron pretended to be a brand-new nurse in order to enter the ward. She then allegedly “entered a patient’s hospital room and identified herself as a nurse.” Miron then attempted to remove the child, but hospital employees stopped him and called security. Miron may have chosen the infant at random or with a specific baby in mind.

Around 10:30 am on Thursday, July 14, Fox 11 reported that the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said deputies were informed by hospital employees of a person impersonating a nurse. Deputies then discovered that Miron had entered the hospital pretending to be a recently hired nurse in order to get access to the medical unit for newborn babies and expectant women. According to reports, she went into a hospital room and identified herself as a nurse.

While in the patient’s room, she tried to take a newborn baby. The hospital staff challenged Miron, prompting security to be notified. Before the police came, the patient left the hospital, but the deputies soon recognised Miron as the suspect and executed a search warrant at the 11000 block of Weber Street in Moreno Valley, where Miron was later apprehended.

The hospital network, according to the CEO of Riverside University Health System, “has numerous layers of security.”

In court records FOX 11 acquired, Miron acknowledged to pretending to be a nurse and suggesting that kidnapping a child would be “simple.” Officers found proof that she received ultrasounds from two different hospitals, according to the same records. Authorities are still looking into how the young woman entered the unit without raising any alarms, and their probe is still ongoing.

The hospital system “has numerous layers of security to ensure the safety and well-being of patients and staff,” according to Jennifer Cruikshank, CEO of Riverside. According to The New York Times, security is also being “examined and enhanced” and there are more deputies on the premises.
