Jean Marie Bugoma, from Texas: Will Be In Jail For Ten Years For Having Sex With Various Horses
Before reaching a plea deal with the prosecution, Bugoma was first charged with a variety of offenses; nonetheless, he eventually admitted guilt.

A man from Texas who admitted to sexually assaulting many horses and having sex with them was given a sentence of ten years in jail after the judge heard his confession. Jean Marie Bugoma, 24, was sentenced on Wednesday, June 29, after entering a guilty plea to the charge of bestiality on Tuesday, June 28.

At least three of the horrific offenses were committed between June 2020 and February 2021 at a boarding facility for horses in San Antonio. In the first incident, an arrest document states that Bugoma was seen on security camera walking around the stables shirtless. This took place in the first incident. Soon after, the owner saw that two of his horses had been hurt, and a veterinarian later determined that the horses had been sexually abused. The owner was alarmed by this discovery. It is said that some months later, Bugoma went back to the stables and had sexual relations with one of the horses there. The term “hobbled” refers to the horses’ legs being tied together, and this time there were two extra horses that had this treatment done to them. A warrant was obtained by the authorities in February of the previous year when Bugoma was captured by the owner at the stable. The warrant was acquired because DNA from one of the horses matched that of the suspect.

In January of 2021, Bugoma was found guilty of sexually abusing a horse at a boarding facility, and on Wednesday, Judge Ron Rangel of the Criminal District Court handed him a sentence of ten years in jail for the crime. According to a news announcement released by the City of San Antonio Animal Care Services Department, Bugoma entered a guilty plea to one count of bestiality while in the company of a kid (ACS). Bugoma was initially charged with multiple felonies in connection to a series of animal cruelty incidents; but, after striking a plea deal with the prosecution, he was only required to enter a guilty plea.

“A number of animals were hurt in the incident which occurred after Bugoma broke into the stable, purportedly to have sexual relations with numerous horses,” ACS noted in the release. “The attack occurred after Bugoma broke into the stable to have sexual intercourse with several horses.” Bugoma was indicted on many counts of burglary and crimes of bestiality by a grand jury in Bexar County in July 2021, and the indictment was entered into a true bill. On January 8, 2021, according to the prosecution, Bugoma “intentionally and consciously entered a building which was not available to the public with the intent to commit the felony offence of bestiality without the effective approval of the owner.” On that particular day, Bogoma is said to have “intentionally and consciously engaged in sexual contact with a horse,” as stated in the indictment.

“Bugoma intentionally and knowingly tripped a horse identified by the name of Cello, a second horse by the name of Uhtred, and a third horse by the name of GG/Gigi and Bugoma’s conduct was not a generally accepted and otherwise lawful form of conduct occurring solely for the purpose of or in support of fishing, hunting, or trapping; or wildlife management, wildlife or depredation control; or shooting preserve practices as regulated by state or federal

In addition, charges of animal cruelty were brought against Bugoma since it was alleged that he “tripped” three or more horses when he was breaking into the stable. The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) provides the following definition of “tripping”: “roping the front or hind legs of a galloping horse while on foot or horseback, causing it to trip and fall for entertainment purposes.”

In addition, the prosecution asserted that the horses may have been injured by “an unidentified object,” which was a possible method of attack.
