Operation ‘Kill Homelander’ turns murky for all sides in ‘The Boys’ Season 3 Episode 4 Review

‘Glorious Five Year Plan’ sets the tone for the second half of ‘The Boys’ Season 3’s second half, which looks to be an amazing blast. Taking out a psychotic and deadly Homelander (Anthony Starr) is far more difficult than it appears on paper. Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) makes his mark, with some ramifications, and a new character dies on the show. Hughie (Jack Quaid) and Butcher (Karl Urban) make a move that the other boys don’t like. While the overall goal is to murder Homelander, obstacles are increasing, making the hour-long episode a mind-blowing experience.

‘The Boys’ has always relied on the element of surprise to make up for the gratuitous amounts of violence and sex it displays onscreen. The latter component takes a backseat this time, and the program instead focuses on some action that serves as a momentary diversion. Both groups are betrayed, which makes matters worse, especially for Starlight (Erin Moriarty) and the Boys.

Season 3 of ‘The Boys’: ‘Is that Charlize Theron?’ Fans are baffled by Cameo’s appearance

The boys are in terrible chaos, with Butcher appearing to be dangerously hooked to the temporary Compound V. Hughie joins the supe bandwagon, giving himself a taste of power as they go on a quest to find Soldier Boy, which ends horribly for Kimiko as she sees firsthand the damage he can do. She gets the full power of an energy blast and is unable to heal, implying that the character will meet a tragic end. If Kimiko dies, it will be the season’s first big death. The compound’s use will almost certainly produce friction between Hughie and Starlight.

The fourth episode focuses on the cascading effects of some of the activities. Each character has a strategy, and how they carry it out has ramifications. Going against Vought and Homelander will result in Hughie’s death, as seen by Supersonic’s death. Homelander assassinates the newest supe on the block when A-attempt Train’s to please him causes him to divulge the Seven’s leader’s plans. As far as rumors go, Queen Maeve and A-Train will undoubtedly perish as the season draws to a close. They look to have accepted their fate, but only time will tell if this is correct

The motives of Victoria Neunman are still unknown. She sides with Homelander in exchange for the temporary compound for her daughter, and there’s reason to suspect she’ll turn on him at some time. There’s a lot to guess about, but one thing is certain: this episode foreshadows a terrifying, yet entertaining season ahead.
