Who Is Glenn Thompson Son Kale Thompson? Congressman Gets Backlash After Attending Son’s Gay Wedding

In spite of the fact that he had recently voted against legislation that would have protected same-sex marriage, Republican lawmaker Glenn Thompson went to his gay son’s wedding on the previous Friday. Glenn, better known by his initials GT, is a member of the United States House of Representatives who serves Pennsylvania’s 15th congressional district.

Even though Gawker was the first to report on Kale Thompson’s same-sex wedding, there is some uncertainty around whether or not Kale’s father, who only recently voted against the bill, will actually attend the ceremony.

In spite of this, it was eventually established that the Pennsylvania Representative and his wife had no problem attending the homosexual wedding and participating in the celebrations. Even though Kale Thompson has not disclosed his partner’s name to the press, the Thompson parents couldn’t be happier to welcome a new child into their home.

Glenn Thompson Attends His Son’s Same-Sex Marriage

On Monday, Thompson’s son shared with NBC News that he is now happily married and that his entire family, including his father, was in attendance at his wedding. Thompson’s secretary, Maddison Stone, stated that he was in attendance at the wedding and that both of his parents were overjoyed for their son.

Kale, one of the three children of the congressman, is out and proudly gay, and he recently got married to his long-term partner, the identity of whom he has not divulged because his partner is not a public figure.

The legislator was there at his son’s same-sex wedding to show his support for the union, but on July 19, when he had the opportunity to vote in favour of legislation to safeguard same-sex marriages, he skipped the vote.

The Respect for Marriage Act, which would establish federal rights for same-sex couples, was approved by the House of Representatives and is now in the Senate. With a vote of 267 to 157, the bill was given the green light to proceed to the Senate for consideration. Despite the fact that 47 Republicans in the House voted in favour of the bill, GT was one of 157 House Republicans who opposed The Respect for Marriage Act.

During this time, the Respect for Marriage Act is being debated in the Senate, where 50 Democrats and 10 Republicans are working together to decide whether or not to submit the bill to President Joe Biden. Should it be signed, it would ensure that marriages between people of the same gender will be recognised anywhere in the country.

Republican Thompson and his wife, Penny Ammerman Thompson, have raised three kids to adulthood: Kale Thompson, Logan Thompson, and Parker Thompson. Glenn received his Master of Education degree from both Penn State University and Temple University, where he graduated with honours.
