The parents of Archie Battersbee have asked that he be transferred from the Royal London Hospital to a hospice. This comes after medical professionals made the decision to remove the 12-year-life old’s support, which he had been using to fight for his life while battling a four-month coma.

Doctors contend that relocating him would pose a “serious risk” as his parents submit a motion to the High Court. In a message to the BBC, Hollie Dance, the mother of Archie Battersbee, expressed her hope that the High Court will reach the right verdict. Added her:
“It will just be barbaric and nothing about Archie’s ‘dignity’ if they don’t let us take him to a hospice and give him palliative oxygen. For Archie’s right to live, we will battle to the last end.
Dance continued by saying that she wants to bid goodbye to her kid “in a tranquil hospice,” free from the “noise and upheaval,” for the family.
The lawyers of Barts Health NHS Trust, which manages the Royal London Hospital, addressed a letter to the family’s legal team as the family fights for Battersbee’s life. The young child’s relocation to a hospice was to be “opposed on both a procedural basis and a best interest basis,” according to the letter.
The letter went on to say:
The trust still prioritises Archie’s wellbeing and best interests when making decisions about his care. It thinks that because of Archie’s precarious health, moving him even a short distance would be extremely dangerous.
Despite the conclusion of his treatments, Archie Battersbee is still being cared for at the Royal London Hospital, according to the BBC.

The 12-year-old was admitted to the hospital after participating in the hazardous Blackout Challenge TikTok trend. On April 7, Battersbee was discovered unconscious with a ligature mark over his head.
