After that, Wilder participated in the heavyweight competition at the 2008 Olympics, where he won victories against Abdelaziz Touilbini of Algeria and Mohamed Arjaoui of Morocco. However, in the semi-finals, he was defeated by Clemente Russo of Italy, which resulted in him earning a bronze medal.

Deontay Wilder’s Early Career
On November 15, 2008, Wilder made his debut on the professional boxing circuit at the Vanderbilt University Memorial Gymnasium in Nashville, Tennessee. He was 23 years old at the time. He fought Ethan Cox, who had a record of 2-2-1, and won the fight by technical knockout (TKO) in the second round. He knocked Cox down three times. In 2009, Wilder competed seven times and was victorious in every bout he took part in within the first round. By October 2012, Wilder had amassed a winning streak of 25 bouts, all of which he had won via knockout and all of which were completed within the first four rounds. On December 15, 2012, at the Memorial Sports Arena in Los Angeles, Wilder won his first title as a professional boxer by knocking out Kelvin Price, who was 37 years old and had a perfect record of 13-0 with six knockouts.
