On March 17, 2022, Oksana Shvets, a well-known Ukrainian actress, was killed when Russian artillery shelled a residential building in Kyiv, Ukraine. Her group, the Young Theater, acknowledged her death on Facebook on March 17, according to a statement.
In a statement in Ukrainian, which was translated by Variety, the group stated, “Young Theater’s family has suffered an irreparable loss. A nice remembrance of the outstanding actress. The enemy that has intruded upon our territory will not be forgiven.”
Oksana had been a member of the ensemble since 1980. Her death was also reported on Twitter by the Kyiv Post, according to the newspaper.
