The case’s specifics are murky, but one of the two alleged murderers later went to the police to confess to the crime. Kate has friends named Heather Kamp and Ethan Mack. Who are Ethan Mack and Heather Kamp, and what did they do in the Kate Waring murder?

Tomorrow morning, the jury will reconvene to resume deliberations in the Kate Waring murder trial.

Kate had known Ethan Mack for a long time. Even her family was well known to him. On the evening of June 12, 2009, Kate Waring told her parents she was going out to supper with Ethan before she vanished. Kate became friends with Heather Angelica Kamp that year, who, according to what she said, was a doctor. The two clicked right away after Kate introduced them.

Kamp, though, held even darker secrets. Kamp wasn’t a doctor and she wasn’t as clean as she seemed to be. In truth, Kamp had a long criminal record that included assault and fraud. In the past, she was detained in Ephrata, Pennsylvania.

The Waring family reported their 28-year-old daughter missing on June 15, 2009. Because the majority of Kate’s things were within the home, authorities came to the conclusion that she had not left the city. Ethan Mack acknowledged to the police that he, Kamp, and Waring went out to dinner on June 12 to celebrate Kamp’s pregnancy. At around 11 PM, he allegedly left her off at her house.

I sincerely apologize for your murder at the hands of a person you trusted, Kate Waring. You are finally at peace.
However, Waring’s parents decided to employ local attorney Andrew Savage III to take on the case after weeks of frustrating dead ends. He quickly followed Kate Waring’s movements on the evening of June 12 to James Island, where Ethan and Kamp owned a home, with the assistance of his skilled team of investigators.

They also discovered that shortly after Kate vanished, Mack attempted to cash a check from her. Allegedly, the signature was falsified. As a result, the police started to watch the area near Mack’s James Island house. They soon became aware of Kamp’s frequent visits to Terry Williams, their next-door neighbor. He and Kamp apparently had a relationship.

Natalie Caula Hauff @ncaula Tonight at 11 p.m. on ABC News 4, Scarlett Wilson, a lawyer, discusses the possibility of retrying Ethan Mack for the murder of Kate Waring.

Kamp called the police and admitted that she and Mack had killed Kate Waring. She sensed that the detectives were narrowing in on the duo. She allegedly consented to testify against Mack in return for a lighter punishment.

Kamp acknowledged that she and Mack had been robbing Kate of money for a while. When Kate learned, she threatened to involve her family. Kate continued to be friends with the couple, although she constantly threw threats Mack’s way. David Haskins, the investigator, said:

“She said that they had consumed alcohol while in Ethan’s flat. Ethan struck Kate during the altercation and smacked her in the head with a wine bottle. After that, he put Kate in the bathtub after filling it with water.”
They were both detained by police on suspicion of forgery and obstructing the course of justice. Kamp immediately made known the location of Kate Waring’s body. Terry Williams was detained for obstructing justice as well.

After Mack tortured Kate with a stun pistol and then knocked her out with a wine bottle, Kamp confessed that they had deceived Kate into entering a suitcase. Later, they submerged her in their bathtub. Kamp admitted to killing someone on his own volition.

In the Kate Waring murder trial, Ethan Mack will not take the witness stand to defend himself.
The situation was considerably more difficult for Mack. Mack was sentenced to 25 years in jail in 2011 after first being given a term for forgery and obstruction of justice. The authorities revoked Kamp’s plea agreement as a result of her inconsistent and frequently changing story. She received a 39-year prison term.
