UFC: Chidi Njokuani Brother Anthony Njokuani is a former mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter
Chidi Njokuani owes a tremendous amount of gratitude to his older brother, Anthony Njokuani, for providing him with the motivation to pursue a career in fighting.
The older brother of Njokuani competes on a professional level in mixed martial arts and kickboxing. Since 2001, he has competed on a professional level and has been a member of some of the most prestigious fighting brands, including the UFC, WEC, and ONE Championship.
Chidi was inspired to begin his career in the same manner that he had in the beginning, which was as a kickboxer. Anthony is the reigning champion of the Muay Thai competition in the state of Kansas. He went on to achieve great success in mixed martial arts (MMA) in 2003, after first taking the Art of War promotion in 2007.
He competed in twenty-seven bouts during the course of his kickboxing career and won 25 of them bouts. After that, the senior Njokuani competed with World Extreme Cagefighting from 2009 to 2010, and then with the Ultimate Fighting Championship from 2010 to 2014.
On March 19, 2011, he made his MMA debut at UFC 128, when he was defeated by Edson Barboza but was awarded the Fight of the Night bonus. His most recent bout took place on October 4, 2014, at UFC Fight Night: MacDonald vs. Saffiedine, and it was against Daron Cruickshank.
Anthony was eliminated from the promotion after receiving a defeat by unanimous decision in the fight. Since that time, he has participated in a variety of mixed martial arts (MMA) promotions, including Legacy Fighting Championship, ONE Championship, Gamebred Fighting Championship, and Eagle Fighting Championship, among others.
The most recent fight he participated in was at Eagle FC 44 on January 28, 2022, where he was defeated in the first round through technical knockout. Njokuani has an Instagram account, and the majority of the photos he posts there feature him and Chidi.

Five years after establishing their home in Texas, the three were joined by a new member of their family, Chidi, in the year 1988. Chidi’s name comes from the Igbo language, and it means “God exists.” The Njokuani parents chose this name for their son to honour their Nigerian heritage.
Anthony reveals in an old post by MMA Junkie that he had difficulty fitting in with the American students and that he was a consistent target of bullying during this time period. As a result, he began to fight, and this contributed to an already tense relationship between his parents.
This carried on even after the eldest son had established a profession in the combat sports industry. Charity, his mother, and he have reconciled their differences, but he has been unable to reach an agreement with his father.
Since their father passed away in 2003, Anthony and Chidi are alone supported by their mother. The family is now down to only three members, but Anthony and Chidi will continue to pass on their mixed martial arts (MMA) history to their offspring.

Muay Thai and kickboxing
After about fifteen amateur Muay Thai fights, Chidi Njokuani became professional in 2007. During the 2007–2008 season, he represented the Oklahoma Destroyers in the team-based World Combat League kickboxing competition. He lost to renowned opponents like Raymond Daniels and Lyman Good. He lost his first professional Muay Thai fight to Joe Schilling on April 25, 2009 (at Dominant Knockout 1 in Irving, Texas), but he bounced back to defeat Edwin Aguilar and Ken Tran in back-to-back fights on July 30, 2011, at Kickboxing Empire I in Las Vegas, Nevada, by unanimous decision (a second round knockout at Lion Fight: Battle in the Desert 4 in Las Vegas on November 19, 2011).
On the Push Kick Promotions: Muay Thai World Stand Off 5 card in Las Vegas on September 29, 2013, Njokuani made his return to the Muay Thai ring and battled Simon Marcus to a contentious majority draw.
Marcus quickly got inside and started landing knees and elbows from the clinch after Njokuani, who had started the fight brilliantly, used footwork to control the ring. Njokuani was given additional time to recuperate after two unlawful attacks in round two, including an elbow to the back of the head and a low blow. Marcus would start to work in the clinch once more as Njokuani kept turning around, so the referee made the decision to stop the fight repeatedly. When Marcus delivered a second low hit in the third round, referee Tony Weeks deducted Marcus a point, and the bout eventually devolved into a brawl. When it came to the judges, one judge scored the fight for Njokuani and two judges ruled the fight a majority draw. In response, Chidi Njokuani was referred to as a “bitch” by Simon Marcus, who also questioned the judges’ understanding of the Muay Thai scoring methodology. These post-fight remarks sparked an argument between Marcus and Anthony, Chidi’s brother, as they fought backstage.
