Bryan Cranston: Malcolm in the Middle Reboot
Cranston expressed great excitement in reprising his role as Hal and reuniting with his sitcom family 20 years later, though he did not say whether anything was yet finalised. Here is what he said:
The idea of making a reunion film for Malcolm in the Middle has been discussed. We had such a wonderful family on it, and if a good concept like, “Oh, that would be lovely to explore what happened to this family 20 years later” came along, I would certainly be open to that.
That would be enjoyable to do, I can’t believe it has already come to that.
Malcolm in the Middle: Cast
It’s interesting to note that Cranston has already shown interest in bringing the Malcolm in the Middle cast back together on screen.
Cranston stated in 2016 that he “certainly hopes” Malcolm in the Middle would be brought back in some capacity.
Cranston suggested that the sitcom may make a comeback as a refurbished Netflix series or a one-off miniseries back when revival movies weren’t exactly commonplace.
He said that as the industry develops, he’s not sure precisely what a Malcolm in the Middle resurrection would look like, but given that he still gets along well with all of his co-stars, the entire cast would undoubtedly want to revisit their roles.
Although Cranston has emphasised that his other cast members are equally supportive of a Malcolm in the Middle resurrection, there have been rumours that the preparations have been derailed by some sort of snag.

On the Steve-podcast O’s in 2021, Muniz stated that Cranston has been sincerely working to reunite the Malcolm in the Middle family.
He acknowledged that if a reunion took place, he “would be down, 100 percent” for playing the same part again. He did, however, add that a particular cast member—whom he will not name—wasn’t prepared for a reunion.
Following up on his words, Muniz acknowledged that Cranston is already writing the script for a Malcolm in the Middle revival, and now the latter’s latest remarks only confirm this.
A Malcolm in the Middle comeback is now more likely than ever because to the recent success of sitcom reunions like Friends: The Reunion and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Reunion.
Naturally, Cranston would prefer a full cast reunion, but if the latest plans for the Zoey 101 revival movie are any indicator, the Malcolm in the Middle revival movie might still go through even if one or two cast members opted to skip it.
Since the series has successfully upheld its reputation as one of the most significant family comedies of its era, both devoted longtime viewers and recent viewers are genuinely curious about the cast and characters’ current whereabouts.
There is ample certainty that whatever plan Cranston comes up with for a Malcolm in the Middle reunion, it will honour everything viewers loved about the show given that he is participating in the creative side of the process.

Bryan Lee Cranston was born on March 7, 1956, in Hollywood, California, to Joe Cranston, an actor and former amateur boxer, and Audrey Peggy Sell, a radio actress.
His father was of Irish, German, and Austrian-Jewish origin, while his maternal ancestors were of German descent.
