The US Department of Defense said it wasn’t behind the attack, and the US Central Command didn’t say anything.
President Joe Biden said at the White House on the evening of August 1 that the US Intelligence Community had found Ayman as he moved into downtown Kabul in early 2022. The operation had been approved a week earlier.
President Biden also said that no civilians were hurt during the operation and that no one in Ayman’s family was hurt.
