With “Deep Water,” which is now available on Hulu, the erotic thriller genre is back. The film from 20th Century Studios was supposed to be released in theaters, but after multiple delays, it was shifted to a streaming-only release.

The film follows a married couple who have fallen out of love, and is based on the Patricia Highsmith novel of the same name. Melinda, the wife, brags about her extramarital affairs in front of her husband, but when more than one of her lovers goes missing, it’s unclear whether her husband is simply jealous or a murderer.

“Deep Water” is Adrian Lyne’s first feature-length directorial effort since 2002’s “Unfaithful,” and it features a screenplay co-written by “Euphoria” creator Sam Levinson and Zach Helm.
