The Rookie Final: Review

After witnessing the much-anticipated Chenford moment in the winter finale, The Rookie fans erupt in glee.

There will be spoilers for the two-hour “The Collar” and “Take Back” winter finale of The Rookie.

This past Sunday, The Rookie’s two-hour midseason finale aired as part of the ABC fall 2022 schedule, and it was a rather significant event for two characters.

Tim Bradford (also known as “Chenford”) and Lucy Chen appeared to be developing a romance during the course of Season 5 before this week, especially when Tim’s ex-girlfriend Ashley ended their relationship.

Fans had a week to remember this one, and by the time the episodes were up, they were clearly giddy.

The idea of moving in together horrified Lucy when her lawyer boyfriend Chris offered it in the first of the two episodes, “The Collar.”

Tim made several attempts to counsel Lucy throughout the episode in an effort to help her decide whether she truly loved Chris.

Ultimately, Lucy came to the conclusion that she wasn’t meant to be with him, which prompted Tim to wonder how she would react if he asked her out.

Fans were obviously pleased with the situation and Tim’s apparent declaration of his affections for Lucy. How captivated the sergeant is was noted by one Twitter user:

The small moment at the conclusion of the first segment of the winter finale marked the beginning of what could be a very beautiful relationship, even if it requires the two characters taking some risks.

The series has been building up to Chenford since the first season, and that’s only increased now that Tim isn’t Lucy’s T.O.

The Rookie Season 5: Plot

After Tim Bradford (Eric Winter) and Lucy Chen (Melissa O’Neil), aka Chenford, elevated their friendship in the season finale of The Rookie season 4, viewers were left on edge.

The couple now seemed to have a future together after waiting for years.

They will, however, have to deal with their own obstinacy in refusing to acknowledge their affections for one another as well as an undercover assignment that could be in jeopardy as a result of the conflicting emotions they are experiencing.

However, Chenford wasn’t the only one who left them with an open-ended situation.

After returning from maternity leave, Nyla Harper (Mekia Cox), who gave birth to a child with James (Arjay Smith), has a fresh obstacle in her role as a detective.

As a result, Aaron Thorsen (Tru Valentino) will have a new teacher in season five of The Rookie. The executive producer of The Rookie, Alexi Hawley, stated in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that Nyla’s pregnancy will be the subject of a lighthearted narrative.

He also announced an episode arc in which Wesley Evers tries his hand at law enforcement.

John Nolan is another figure embarking on a new career path (Nathan Fillion). During this year’s The Rookie panel at Comic-Con, the actor unintentionally gave away the fact that John would get a raise following the valiant rescue he and Bailey Nune (Jenna Dewan) performed in the middle of the desert.

In the upcoming season, John will mentor a brand-new rookie cop and work as a training officer, which will undoubtedly present fresh obstacles for their relationship.

In this fashion, Nathan Fillion will return to the role of John Nolan, the show’s central police officer, whose importance has decreased over the course of the seasons in favor of other characters.

She will play Celina, a fresh-faced rookie with an original approach to police job. Although she graduated from the police academy with great honors, her training officer will find working with her unconventional ways difficult.

Everything seems to point to John Nolan becoming her training officer, which is just what she needs.
