Wednesday Season 1: Where They Filmed The Series?
Cantacuzino Castle in Buşteni, Romania served as the setting for a number of exterior shots of Nevermore Academy, the location of the most of the action in the show.
Following its completion in 1911, the castle was initially used as a summer retreat for the family of Prince Grigore Cantacuzino.
Today, however, the public is welcome to visit the castle. In 1948, it was taken over by the government and converted into a medical facility run by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
In an interview with NME, Emma Myers, who portrays Enid Sinclair in Wednesday, shared her thoughts on the site.
She said, “There were these really cool swings on the outside of the castle that a lot of us went to play on between [takes].”
I made repeated attempts to slip away in order to investigate the situation, but, as it turned out, I wasn’t able to get very far.
The production designer, Mark Scruton, stated the following in an interview with GoldDerby: “There was a central column that Tim [Burton] really caught in on that had that kind of Addams Family vibe to it without it being a direct comparison and I think that was the lynchpin for everything else.”
Bucharest Film Studios, also called Buftea Studios, are another location that was used for filming. These studios are located in Bucharest, the capital city of Romania.
Over the course of more than 60 years, the production company has worked in both the cinema and television industries, producing movies such as “The Voyagers” and “The Devil Inside” in 2012.
Bușteni, Romania
The majority of the filming took place between the years 2021 and 2022 in Buşteni, a small mountain village in Romania.

Cantacuzino Castle
Cantacuzino Castle in Buşteni, which was constructed in 1911 in the Neo-Romanian style, serves as the primary setting for the show and is known as Nevermore Academy.
The building of the castle was commissioned by Prince Gheorghe Grigore Cantacuzino, who used it as his vacation residence until the 1930s.
Following the conclusion of World War II, it was first restored and then made available to the general public after passing into the ownership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for a while.
In modern times, in addition to the numerous sculptures and works of art that are displayed inside the castle and throughout the grounds, there are also two restaurants and an adventure park for guests with children.

The filming also took place in Bucharest, which is the capital of Romania.
The outside scenes of Nevermore Academy were filmed at Cantacuzino Castle, while the interior scenes were filmed in Bucharest at Casa Monteoru, a mansion that was erected in the 1870s.
Both locations are around 85 miles apart.
The Botanical Garden of Bucharest
The crew relocated once more, this time staying within Bucharest at the Bucharest Botanical Garden in order to work on the greenhouses for Nevermore.
In 1884, 18 hectares of land were set aside to become a botanical garden, and the garden didn’t open to the public until 1891.
Gara Regala Sinaia Resort Prahova Valley Romania
The Royal Train Station, also known as Gara Regala, is located in the Sinaia resort in the Prahova Valley in Romania.
We have returned to the Buceni region with the purpose of filming exterior scenes that are supposed to take place close to Nevermore.
This time, we are in the mountain town of Sinaia, which is a well-known skiing destination in the wintertime.
The train station in the town was formerly only accessible to the Royal Family and their invited guests. Its name is Gara Regala.
